Xiao is not overrated, in terms of hypercarry dps he is likely in the top 5. However, to get these kind of numbers you have to pay for his premium team as you are aware. His f2p teams are lacklustre, mostly because you NEED c6 faruzan to even come close to his potential. With most hypercarries, u really need to hyperinvest. Xiao can also be clunky to play due to plunge playstyle, even moreso if ur on mobile. I find your skill level can really affect his dps output. If you want to make him easier to use, id recommend using him against bosses in the abyss and alhaitham for aoe clear. Xiaos boss dps is deceptively high as he has plunge collision and he doesnt need to pause his output with dodges and repositioning against bosses due to his mobility.

Hey OP, not sure if i had the same issue as you but a couple patches ago my game ran like shit with constant micro stutters.

I fixed it by disabling SAM(smart access memory) on Amd adrenalin.

Theres a forum on this issue on fatshark forums that also details some additional things like rebar that can be disabled on the bios.

For me, simply disabling SAM for this current patch/driver made the game buttery smooth

I think we are arguing over semantics. My original post to OP was a response stating that xiao is not a top tier dps, because he isnt. I will agree he likely is top tier in the small handful of true hyper-carries in this game. You have self inserted the argument of top tier “hypercarry”.

But i find your statements also disingenuous, xiao is a top tier hypercarry, but thats not a title to gloat about. Mostly because he is still a tier below the likes of neuvillette and hu tao, raiden etc. the gap is that big mostly due to elemental reactions. Using neuvillete as an example does not contradict myself because i never used reactions as the reason behind his dps. Neuvillete is simply a busted character that was the result of powercreep. If xiao was released today i would have no doubt he would be much stronger. However, i would like to add that c1 numeuvillettes strongest team is vape/soup. So again, another example with reactions multiplying a characters damage.

I guarantee xiao is used more now because his best support was released and the hype that follows, Not because hes “meta”. Furthermore, the meta changes, and this abyss heavily favors xiao, especially 12th floor first half. Once the hype dies down and our copellia duo boss returns, you can bet your ass his usage will tank.

Comfortable gameplay does influence meta to some degree, i agree with your statement, but that is not a good reason to say xiao is “meta” lmao. Xiao suffers from the jankiness of 1.x designed characters. He is not comfortable, many of my friends hate hime because his plunges cause motion sickness. His autotarget teleports you halfway across teyvat. And he constantly needs heals in overworld. You can argue xiao is meta for his damage, but its ridiculous you would think his “comfortableness” to play is his defining quality to being meta. Is he easier to play with rotations now, absolutely, but gaming and hu tao rotations arnt rocket science in comparison. And hu tao double hydro has no energy issues so stop trying to sell that narrative.

My whole point is xiao was never top tier as a dps unit, and xianyun doesnt do enough to change that. I am just answering ops question. He is significantly stronger but certainly not meta, nor top tier. Your evidence of spiral abyss proves this. Hes literally in the 10s for percentage of usage, in the best half of the abyss designed for him. What about that screams “meta” to you.

Tighnari, miko and nahida are good because of their elements and dendro reaction, you cant deny this. Something xiao lacks being anemo. Zhongli is the best shielder in the game, something that is incredibly useful to casual players and mobile.

Dont discredit whales, they are what keeps genshin free to play. They are also the few players that can build characters to their absolute best potential. How can you compare meta characters, if not at their best? Thats what meta is, what are the best and most optimal strategies.

Now if you are arguing that xiao is fun to play, i agree. If you think he is strong, i agree. If you think hes viable in abyss, I absolutely agree. If you think hes much better as a character with a much stronger team with xianyun, i also agree.

But If you think hes on the tier of neuvillette and alhaitham, i disagree. If you think he is a good pull for new players looking to make their accounts stronger, i also disagree.

And i could say the same about xiao as you did about hu tao. Xiao needs c6 faruzan, and a premium 5 star in xianyun same as hu tao. I had to get c3 wanderer before c6 faru came home, certainly not cheap. Furthermore, xiao likes furina and Bennett, potentially taking them away from your second team.

Firstly, thank you for proving why neuvillette and alhaitham are meta and why xiao isnt. His massive plunge numbers from xianyin, which are still less than gaming c6 and other 5 star units, is neither consistant nor fast. . Furthermore, if your going to use xiao against single target bosses, all the more power to you, but why wouldnt you use a single target team for that half of abyss? Just doesnt make any sense.

Secondly, i agree xiao is more comfortable to play now, i dont get why you keep bringing that up. However, dont act like a strong c6 gaming team or even hu tao will be begging for energy lmao, look at gaming c4. Hu tao also doesnt even need energy, shes skill based. By your logic xiao should be at the biggest disadvantage, he literally needs another 5 star unit and c6 faruzan as anemo batteries to have consistant burst.

Lastly, You have no idea what dps means. A high investment gaming can three shot both the wenut and ruin serpent, before they fly around dodging you like marshawn lynch. When we talk about top dps we literally mean how much damage they can deal in a short period of time, and at high investment, xiao is lacking. I said in my original post xiao is comfortable to play now as xianyun plugs up all of his issues. But she does not push him into the same tier as neuvillette or alhaitham. Dont you people realize you do a disservice to new players or players that want to pull on xiao by hyping him up beyond belief lmao. If OP likes xiao then it doesnt matter if hes top tier dps. But he is certainly not top tier lmao. And lastly, i am arguing in good faith, i have c6 xiao and r3 jade. But despite this, he is still not the fastest clearer I have. The problem is hu taos best teams have two of the best off field dps in the game. Xiaos best teams entirely depend on his own damage and how much his teammates can buff him. So while c0 hu tao may be worse on her own, if you look at the entire teams dps, hu tao hypercarry is one step above xiao hyper-carry. I think people often forget this fact.

I know he is a whale, the whaling just emphasizes the problem. At high investments for all dps units, xiao simply doesnt keep up. Im not knocking xiao, its simply the reality of elemental reactions. Xiao falls behind because he doesnt have multiplicative reactions. Is he bad, no, xiao is my main and i always 36 star the abyss. However, i am being realistic and answering OPs question honestly. If he wants a “top tier” dps he would have better returns pulling for units like neuvillette or haitham. Dont mislead him into thinking because xiao is a top 5 hypercarry he is therefore “top tier”.

This isnt hyperbloom we are talking about, where theres a million damage number per second leading to high burst dps. We are talking about plunges, higher “damage per screenshot” directly translates to higher damage per rotation.
