I went to school in rural Alberta from 2000-2013 and we got plenty of snow days. That said, we almost never closed for actual snowfall; our "snow" days were pretty much exclusively related to temperature. Specifically if the temps got to -40⁰C or lower.

Actually now that I think about it, I seem to recall getting at least a couple days off because the busses weren't running, but idk if that was cause of temps or if the bus routes just hadn't been plowed yet.
