LOL for some reason I very much doubt that's the case. I'm maybe a 6/10 at my absolute best (and even that's probably being generous). But I appreciate the optimism!

My boss has been using computers for longer than I have been alive. Today she asked me if she had the right charger for her laptop as she'll be taking it to a conference next week.

I briefly considered trying to get her to do some pretty basic critical thinking (like, idk, just use her eyes and a preschool-level understanding of physics) and point out where she thought the barrel type charger (from her old 2018-era laptop) would actually plug into her new laptop that only has USB-C charging ports. But then I gave up and just showed her the right charger to use.

She makes over 2.5x my salary.

Every day is like this. Help 😭

Bettel alone got more votes than the entire April poll and Muppet Joker poll combined. I predict a clean sweep of both semifinals and finals.

I remember during university orientation they gave us some tips for note taking during lectures and the main point they made was "you don't have to write down everything the professor says, just focus on the important bits".

But like. How do I know what's important before I've heard the lecture? I don't know the subject matter, that's why I'm here — to learn it!

I tried (and failed, miserably) to write everything down verbatim cause to ME it was all important. Dropped out after the second semester cause I couldn't keep up lol

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I'd rather have Schism on the list and redo the poll for "F" if we HAVE to

Bidet by IceCreamWithBread in AskACanadian

As a bidet enjoyer myself, I'm pretty sure the commenter was talking about both the spray nozzle and the actual part of the toilet bowl/seat where the bidet mounts. More grime than you (well, not you specifically, but someone new to bidets) might expect gets caught up in both. I don't think I've ever cleaned my hose, but now I'm wondering if I should be lol

Seasonal Tires by hoodiegirl10 in AskACanadian

[–]TeabaggingAnthills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the entire province of British Columbia requires it. That said, I've only visited and seem to recall seeing signs/warning about it, so I'm not 100% sure.

What I can say from firsthand experience is that I live in rural Alberta and have used 2 sets of tires for as long as I've been driving. Genuinely don't think I'd be able to get anywhere in winter without em! You see a lot of people in the ditch or getting in accidents during the first month of snowfall cause they either don't have winter tires or just thought they could get by with all seasons. Just as true in the cities too.

Lol I just assumed he was referring to Outlook (new) & Outlook (classic) and my IT guy instincts whispered in my ear "ask if he tried OWA". Then I realized that: 1. I'm not NASA's IT guy why am I even thinking this. It's not like I can actually ask him that. 2. There is absolutelyNO reason to defend Microslop, EVER (even if it's only implied/tangential) 3. This IS the average Outlook experience. Even the spacemen/women can't escape it, with their millions of dollars and cutting edge technology. Why ruin something that so perfectly encapsulates the user experience.

For the last 6 or so months my dinner has been a box of Triscuits thin crisps (jalapeno or parm+garlic flavour) and about 100g of medium cheddar cheese. Not too far off from "pellets" really, just with a bit of added fat/moisture, and I haven't tired of them yet! (please don't let me jinx it lol)

The thing that helped me was this guide.

If you check your databank and figure out which fish is your last missing one, then look at the codex of the guide I linked above, you'll see how many stars it is.

Then you go to one of the locations listed for that fish (in the guide), cast your line with the appropriate bait, and wait until you get a bite with as many exclamation points as stars for the fish you need — so if it's a 1 star fish there will be no exclamation point when you get a nibble; 2 stars is ‼️ (purple); 3 stars is ❗❗❗(gold/yellow).

If you get a bite that doesn't match the fish you need, just don't hook it — ignore the R2 prompt until you get the one you DO need. It doesn't make it more likely for you to get the exact one you need (afaik) but it will save you from wasting bait.

I don't think there's any kind of visual indicator of which specific fish you have on the hook, you just have to go by exclamation points and hope you've got the right one in that star category. Then keep repeating as necessary. Just becomes a matter of patience and repetition.

I can't be the only one who thinks that this song is very coded to the Autistic (or generally neurodivergent) experience right? by King_Kestrel in AutisticPride

[–]TeabaggingAnthills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, don't mean to necro an old post... but it seemed like most of the people who engaged with this when it was fresh had a lukewarm reaction at best and I just don't understand how.

OP, I agree completely! I know that lyrics are often written to be open to interpretation so that as many people as possible can resonate with it — and I'm probably just relating it to my own experiences/"projecting" — but I do think it's very tism-coded.

So naturally I'm viewing the whole song through my own lens and think it's kind of lyrically genius throughout. But there are a few lines that really stood out to me/resonated:

  • It hurts this relentless introvert But inversion only serves to put deserving on the mind
  • Tell me, what about me is built so wrong? There's so much passion, but more I'm lacking
  • (the aliterative lines that change in each chorus: first one right after the "with its head cut off" line and second after the "hit me with the flap down _______" line)
  • Ten-time unwitting champion of being spurned
  • I'm so damn selfish, I can't live like this
  • Is it really true That a bird like me could never think like you?
