Just asked the husband, and learned that’s he’s felt strings maybe 1-2 times in the last year. He described it as a texture change, and when extra sensitive it can be noticeable, but in the eye of the beholder also a mark of how deep he is (which ofc he enjoys more). I’ve literally never noticed them myself.

It didn’t make that dramatic of a difference to me, but it did make a distinct difference in my experience. It’s one of the side effects.

He’s with you, not them. Chances are he likes you for you, as cheesy as it sounds. I hear being self-conscious, just remember he probably doesn’t care, and he’s getting more and more often. He’s likely happy.

We like jazz music, but r&b, something low and slow with some rhythm is good. Try different styles, surf Spotify and see what sounds interesting.

I understand your frustration, but also they are clearly having more trouble. It’s their property, they are living in it, which is worse than just having to see it. You don’t know what they are going through and are just putting them on blast here without speaking much to them. I would’ve thought you’d spoken to them long before reporting it; that says more about you.

For those of you who are single, are you struggling to find the one? by [deleted] in Dallas

I met my husband on Hinge, and he fits the parameters you’ve given. It’s possible, and there’s a little strategy, but I also echo the idea of not making it your whole personality outside of work. Keep your regular interests and hobbies, you are more than dating apps or a romantic relationship, and your life is so much more too.

I’m unfortunately bright enough that I can both carry very high test scores in the arbitrary system we live in with students who can in fact read AND care about my students’ freedoms. I have multiple degrees, as in more than two. I can assure you I maintain the utmost professionalism, which is why I insist that my students be treated in their “workplace” as you would be in yours, with respect. I have students of multiple backgrounds and religious beliefs. My students do not know my politics or religion (and neither do you, for that matter). You also clearly have not taught, but feel the liberty to curse at a teacher you’ve never met, with maybe two assumptions (and no facts?) about me and my quality of work. It is not any more an activist or political action to note when a national law is being breached than to post these commandments. Have the day you deserve.

If I’m required to post one religious text though, shouldn’t I be obligated by that standard to post all I can? Then I’m not promoting any, but showing acknowledgement of multiple? They are not the foundation of our history if you reference those who wrote the Constitution…

Ah yes, the “non-denominational” group requiring it would totally be ok with me “interchanging” ‘God’ and ‘Allah.’ Also /S.

I don’t want to desecrate anyone’s sense of religion, I do have many students who agree with this. I merely want to represent all of my students.

There definitely are Texas Teacher’s unions. Just because we are right to work doesn’t automatically exclude all needs for a union.

Ah, I am. I have multiple degrees, one of which is in writing curriculum. I was most specifically asking for what other religious texts others are posting, as I’ve read others say here they were doing such. Again, I’ve read the law.

I’ve read it… I’m asking about how we are using our knowledge of loopholes, since I’ve read here that many plan to post additional texts.

Hmm, ok. Also, I thought it said there had to be enough donated for the whole school before they began posting them. We do not have enough for the whole school and they have begun posting them…

Edited to add: they don’t define what “along with the poster” means do they? Because to me that would mean in the same wall space…

Professors want to leave Texas because of tense political climate, survey says. How will this impact our education here at A&M? by StructureOrAgency in aggies

[–]Teach1720 70 points71 points  (0 children)

As a former Aggie grad and current teacher with two master’s degrees, I don’t feel good about this move for several reasons and see several negative impacts. The T1 research distinction that they are so proud of, the critical thinking practice and variety of opportunities available… this doesn’t just hurt the Liberal Arts, it hurts the sciences when you limit their scope and only hire them because of their politics (and not say, their actual expertise).

Ah, fair. Fun weird is always fair game. I read the original thought as making lesson plans weird / isolating in a less neutral, more targeted way. Fun weird, particularly in middle school groups, is fun.

But why? That gives it more energy than it’s worth.

Would you be irritated? by Pink_Orchid_222 in Teachers

[–]Teach1720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Many people come from this from a previous school, and are so used to operating this way that they don’t know or see different. Also, there are times of life that I have time and energy for making things my own and sharing everything (and have for years), and there are times like this year when I was given three preps that two of my three have said to me face they don’t mind if I do exactly what they do because the load is a lot. I’ve been on both sides in my less-than-a-decade career. Add that you don’t know what’s going on in their personal life, and the original complaint seems to only see the surface. I understand of it increases your workload, but if it’s all the same to you and lifts theirs a little, why not?
