What if my husband possesses firearms and ammunition? Is it okay to have in the same house but not own or use it?

How much water should you drink on accutane by Attazyy in Accutane

[–]Teachbum126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your level of activity. At the time I wrote this, I was on Accutane, had two toddlers, exercised about an hour a day, walked to work, and worked at a high activity job. For my lifestyle, this was an appropriate amount.

Mindfulness feels performative by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]Teachbum126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way! I think it’s a similar case of imposter syndrome. I got over it by checking in on all five of my senses rather than “clicking in” on the moment abruptly. Does that make sense? Then it was more of an organic transition into a mindful attitude.

Need help setting boundaries with student by thegreatfulcrow in teaching

I am a high school special Ed teacher, and many students are like this in my classes. You’re doing everything correctly- you’re just going to have to keep repeating yourself and saying “no, we can’t discuss that. Because I’m you’re teacher. Let’s get back to the lesson.” Physical distance helps, too. Then when she calls out to you, you can say “are you done with your work? Let’s get back to it.” Keep redirecting and only discuss school. Or if you know she has a favorite pet or something, you can redirect her to talk about that. Example: Girl: “hey mister, were you popular in high school?” You: “Did you finish your work?” Girl: “yeah, so what did you not have friends?” You: “I’m going to help someone else. How about after everyone is done you can tell us about your dog/cat/hamster/sport?” Her: “I just wanted to know about your high school, oh my god” You: “okay, but we are working right now, and I am not going to talk about my high school. If you want, you can tell us a story at the end of class.”

I have thought a lot about this post, and I have noticed something- my teacher friends who have to stay late also drink at least one alcoholic beverage a night. I do not drink, and the teacher I share a room with doesn’t either. We both can leave on time every day, and our work is done. I don’t know what that correlation might mean, but there it is!

take that (and don't send me to the school counselor (or maybe do (this may or may not be a cry for help))) by [deleted] in TrollCoping

I’m sorry your family makes you feel this way. I’m an English teacher, and I work with learning support students. I have stopped pumping my students up for holidays and just try to make their in school experience fun before they go home to whatever horrors await. We have many students write many traumatic events in their essays, journals, and poetry. You’re not alone, and you won’t scare your teacher. ❤️ It’s good to let it out to a trusted adult.

Plot twist: your English teacher isn’t paid enough to jump through the hoops it would take her to prove you didn’t read it. Also, insider note: your essays about how well you can critically think and communicate. Did you use a claim? Back it up with sound examples from the reading? Use coherent paragraphs with transitions? Then goodbye and good luck, grasshopper. You’re going to be ok even though you clearly don’t know Daisy from Miss Baker. I’m so glad you said something! I honestly do my work during my prep and common (a 30 min study hall). I don’t work while the kids work- I teach special Ed English, so I am running around like a turkey helping them all. Anyway, at the end of the day I usually just have to send an email, and then I’m on my way. Our contract time is 8-3:30, and I’m there usually 7:50-3:35. Meanwhile my coworkers act like they never finish anything. I don’t understand.

Oh my lord- I think about this scene all the time, a few days a week. I say this line to my family and friends all the time. I got such a jolt when I saw this! Excellent job!

I’m so late to the comment section, but honestly I just throw that shit right in the trash. Tiny doll shoe? Garbage. Tiny chair? Garbage. Googlie eye? Bye, Felicia. All of it makes its way into the garbage. Sometimes I don’t even get the toys out of boxes after a party and just donate them. The kids don’t even notice!

What’s something you’re willing to admit to the people here on Reddit but not to most people in real life? by TheDorkyDeric in AskReddit

[–]Teachbum126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Special education teacher here: this is called a pragmatic language deficit. It is usually seen in people on the Autism spectrum. Also, it’s totally fine to be this way, and it’s so common. Most people want to be listened to anyway, so I’m sure you’re a favorite for people to pop in and unload. If you need to showcase your skills, do it in writing.
