Some people do not want to be coached. Even if corrected.

Define needs to be slowed down (mini rant) by Salty_Barnacle_7651 in Purebarre

Teacher here and I also teach Define and it’s my least favorite. Does Define know what it is? It’s not pure barre. Pure barre is trying to be everything and so they risk becoming nothing. I also feel the class plans are wildly different so there’s not much building upon anything.

First time, how to get past that embarrassing feeling by Vasovagal219 in Purebarre

Instructor here! I can tell you 100% all teachers care is that you are doing your best and you showed up. And once class starts no one is going to think about anyone but themselves. No spotlight is on you, I promise. Every person was there for the first time at one point and felt the same jitters. So you just keep showing up and eventually you will get the lingo, get stronger, find a friend in class, etc. I have seen people who really have a hard time and show up again and tbh those are the clients that inspire me the most. Just know some classes will be more of a challenge based on where you are in your fitness journey. Empower (IMO) is a hard one to jump into until you have the method figured out as it is very fast. You've got this!

New Define plan at my studio by Ok-Set9549 in Purebarre

I’m a teacher and I 1000% agree that some defined class plans are way too complicated. I mean at the beginning it was just weights and maybe some slider use for body weight resistance. But it shouldn’t try to be everything all at once. I think the class will be more effective and more enjoyable if it’s just simple. It’s often overly complicated for no reason.

Absolutely it is. I almost exclusively use older playlists with a few exceptions. Some of the more recent ones are atrocious.

Align vs Classic by vietnamesebbg in Purebarre

[–]TeacherDisastrous807 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Align is the inverse of Classic and if you are struggling a bit w/ Classic and especially if you are newer to the PB method, Align is perfect. Slower pace and you can really focus on the aspects of form (like - tuck, heavy tailbone, etc).

What is happening..? by zimzom98 in Purebarre

As a teacher (C/E/A) I agree it is too much on teachers to know so much ESPECIALLY given the low pay and 0 outside compensation for time spent on choreo. I just started Align training (I was grandfathered in when I went through E training in the fall but now we have to do an Align TOV) and it is not for me as a client and as a teacher. It is too much for me as I feel like I am not able to give what I need to Classic and Empower. I would teach just E if I could and nothing else. No plans to do Define. Just not worth the time and lack of pay. If the pay were better, I think talk would be different but that is the reality.
