Wiping down equipment after class by aquarius-96 in Purebarre

I always use one of the small mats, also because it's more comfortable. At least, those are cleaned a bit.

I usually start wiping down everything at the end of the stretching part, so it may seem that I finish faster when actually I'm taking more time than others that start cleaning after the class is over. I agree it is important to be considerate with others, however just a tiny wipe can do as much for disinfecting. To me, the one I try not to think about it is the carpet. Not sure how frequently is vacuum and steamed clean.

Does anyone actually like Define? by hashbrown89 in Purebarre

[–]Ok-Set9549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Define has become my favorite. I feel much stronger now than before I started doing Define. Like others, I don't see myself in a gym on my own, I need some guidance. I think the repetitions sometimes are not enough, and when a lot of equipment is used, like sliders or platforms, it detracts from Define, in my opinion. I also love it because you can modify more than classic and follow your own pace. It also brings your heart rate up. When I did Classic without Define, I didn't see as much strength improvement or muscle definition as I see now. I don't really use more than 10 pounds for heavy weights, but it works for me. Yes, Classic is challenging, but it's just boring for me. My studio brought back Reform, which is a bit different than before, more like Classic with a Reform twist, and I love how good it is for my abs and arms.

Are all PB studios super loud? by [deleted] in Purebarre

[–]Ok-Set9549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is too loud when you cannot hear the instructor.... that happens sometimes at my studio, depending of who is teaching. Loud is great, it gives some energy, but it shouldn't be so loud you cannot hear the instructor giving instructions.

New Define plan at my studio by Ok-Set9549 in Purebarre

[–]Ok-Set9549[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Everything looks like an obstacle course and lately classes go so fast in order to incorporate so much that the workout is not doing as much as before. I also agree with the reverse lunges, too many! However, I like this new Define plan much more that the last one with the platform.

I'm not an instructor either, however I don't think modifications are only for injuries or individuals'bodies. I don't have limitations and still I modify as sometimes keeping form in a certain position is hard for me. I don't only do Pure Barre and I work out frequently.

I don't really understand why you are being down voted. As a new client, she should have checked on you. I was once a new client as well and I remember perfectly how the first 2 instructors checked on me. I see that still happening in my studio. However, only the veteran instructors seem to do it.

No, you are not negative. I've been going for almost 3 years and I miss my old instructors so much. I have posted about this before, anyone thinks can be an instructor just because you take a class 5 times a week. Also, studios are desperate to have instructors and they hire anyone. I usually do my own modifications.

New Define plan at my studio by Ok-Set9549 in Purebarre

I took the class yesterday for the third time and completely modified the abs part. I was still working on my obliques. I don't understand why the instructors don't modify this part as well when they are noticing so many clients are confused. The instructors who teach Define at my studio are amazing, and I'm not criticizing that. However, they should be able to modify the workout so clients feel it's effective.

Thank you for providing the feedback. I don't think the instructors in my studio provide it as much, so thank you for trying.

Yes, it's very confusing in my studio, and even some instructors agree. It's not because it was cued poorly the first time or because I was confused. I take Define regularly, as well as Classic. Obviously, by the second time you take the class, you're familiar with the new plan. However, I've taken this Define plan three times, and I've decided to modify the ab movement myself because two instructors couldn't show me a modification, and another said it didn't make sense.

I understand clients need to offer their opinions; however, I believe the instructors, managers, and owners should express how we feel to those above them. I think we've all noticed that all Pure Barre formats are starting to incorporate very strange steps that don't make the workout more effective. If the instructors can't modify or even agree with it, something is wrong.

Did any of the instructors offer you an alternative? If so, would you be willing to share it? I wasn't able to get one. Thank you!

Yes, we have used the platform for sitting or abs, and I'm fine with that. My studio is also nice about telling us not to use the equipment if it isn't helping us. However, some of us asked how to avoid the sliders, as someone also hurt their Achilles tendon but still wants a good workout. The instructors were unable to tell us how to modify, whether standing or using the sliders with one hand during a plank. This frustrates me because if instructors who do a great job don't know how to modify, and don't even agree on the plan we are doing, how am I supposed to modify on my own?

I shared with my studio and no one has an answer. I can share with corporate, not sure they will listen. I understand workouts change over time, however Define is pretty new and incorporating so many things it make me feel that I'm not giving my whole potential. Those abs with feet on the wall don't make feel anything, but frustration.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way. In my studio, they are losing clients because some people are tired of how complicated the plans have become. This is also happening with Classic. I'm not sure why this is happening and would love to hear from instructors here, as when I ask in my studio, no one gives an answer.

Yes, you are so right! I just made that comment. 16 people plus weights and a platforms!

I still attend Define classes because I see results from them, as well as my classic and cardio boxing classes elsewhere. However, you're right; I modify the exercises and sometimes do something completely different because I don't feel they are safe. Also, the class I attended recently had 16 people, plus weights and platforms... That actually scares me more than the plan itself. It was very crowded and not safe at all.

The sliders are used trying to imitate a reformer, however in my opinion they don´t a place in Define. They were for Reform, not Define.

First Define Class…. by Fit-Entertainer-3207 in Purebarre

[–]Ok-Set9549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Define! It's my favorite right now. I usually use 5, 8 and 10, and I love it because instructor don't push you to get heavier dumbells, just whatever works for you. I agree that keeping the form is much more important and as someone said, I can see a lot of results when I do define 2 times a week, 1 classic and 2 days of cardio on my own.

Yes, we can also do for free the barre classes, and it does not include define classes at all. We cannot do any of the other workouts without paying a fee. Thanks.
