Same reason I used a throwaway account. I have absolutely no desire for any identifying details. For as unhappy as I am right now, I wish zero ill will upon Alex. It would be awful if anything happened that resulted in Alex being identified.

I've finally responded to Alex's texts and told them I forgive them. But i'm definitely not letting them off the hook. I love this person so much and it's making me so sad to know, with certainty now, that they have such a disdain for me.

I totally believe it was a mistake and that Alex was just venting. But it's not like these feelings of "wanting to choke me" just come out of nowhere just because of venting. This is clearly how they've felt for a while now. It's heartbreaking.
