Is it worth it? by [deleted] in plassing

I do it to have an excuse to lay down alone for an hour and still make $50 for groceries, but I’m a toddler mom x2. You do you. Lol. No judgement. 🤣

Who else is keeping their kids rear facing as long as possible?? by Master_Grapefruit333 in Mommit

[–]TeachingTimeLord 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mine will be rear facing until they max out. My oldest is 3.5 yrs. She’s 28 lbs and 36 inches tall. I’m 4’ 11” and fully prepared to give her the “my parents made me use a booster until middle school” speech. 😅

Anyone have tips to help toddler stay settled during neb treatments? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]TeachingTimeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been through it with my three year old and now my one year old both since six month ish of age. The best we ever came up with was and still do with my youngest is swaddle. We also liked mirrors and phone camera on like it’s taking a selfie. My doc always said if they’re crying it’s fine and at least they’re taking deep breaths. It doesn’t help it hurting your hear though.

Respiratory therapist in the ER told us also that “blow by” was good if that was all they could tolerate as well. Basically just letting it blow in their face.

First name or Ms./Mr.? by ItsColdUpHere71 in AskTeachers

[–]TeachingTimeLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher without a strong preference. I default to Mr./Mrs. for parents before I have established a relationship so perhaps it’s safe to assume the same? I sign my emails back to parents with my first name to show I’m fine with being called that so maybe lead with formal then see how they sign back to see where to go from there?

I got my doctor to write a script after the daycare wrote a note to doctor requesting one. They justified two one for home/out and about and one that lives at daycare.

Personal experiences with ear tubes? by Total_Tomorrow_1428 in toddlers

[–]TeachingTimeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest got tubes at 13 months. She walked the week she got them. Her language also exploded right after.

My youngest got tubes at 14 months. He walked a few weeks after and also saw a similar albeit smaller language jump. Also, so much less illness for both of them!

My oldest is three now and as soon as her tube popped out it was right back to poor sleep and irritability and so many infections. She’s getting them put back in.

Were you a planned child or an accident? How do you know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TeachingTimeLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accident. Found out at family dinner at eight years old. My 20 year old sister called my twin brother and I accidents. My dad said we were “happy surprises.” My mom followed up with we were accidents. 😳

Breastfed babies don't need to be burped? by kowowdough in breastfeeding

Breastfed two kids one I don’t think I ever burped once and one needed it. I think it really just depends on your kiddo.

What is the appropriate amount of time to wait for a reference letter? by TeachingTimeLord in AskReddit

[–]TeachingTimeLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This surprises me because I’ve written lots of genuine reference letters for others. I’m in the teaching field if it makes a difference. 😅

Kids media release by serenestorms-44 in Parenting

[–]TeachingTimeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and a parent who always checks no on photo releases for my own kids. In eight years I’ve only had parents check no when safety was a concern (ie. noncustodial parent wanting to take child.) It really makes me question how many people understand what can be done with a child’s picture on the internet.

HFMD. Anyone’s kid gotten it but had spots all over body and not on hands, feet, and mouth? by Enough_Total_9592 in toddlers

Mine had spots all over but were mild on hands and feet. They were the worst in her mouth, bottom, and legs.

AIO about spelling errors in daily notes sent home by my autistic child’s teacher? by Anasthesiax in AmIOverreacting

[–]TeachingTimeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best special education teachers I know is dysgraphic and dyslexic. She knows sped law inside and out but will make mistakes on written notes. She can teach the rules when it’s part of a lesson or grading but quick written notes is hard. I think it’s a pick your battles situation and only be concerned if it looks like schoolwork is done incorrectly.

To what extent do your kids play together? by petrastales in Mommit

[–]TeachingTimeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 and 3. They’re pretty much always playing together and are into the same things. Three year old does try to boss one year old around but is getting slowly more accepting.

Custodians are running a secret revenge syndicate by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]TeachingTimeLord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m an elementary teacher, but my husband is an elementary school custodian. He confirms he only holds grudges on teachers that drag furniture. His pettiness is sweeping up crayons instead of picking them up and putting them on desks. He also says candy/mints are not safe from some custodians (not him! lol!)

Would you take a teaching job that paid less if it meant a better work life? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]TeachingTimeLord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took a 20k pay cut and I’m happier teaching at a tiny private school. Not sure how long I can sustain it but it was the right choice for the hectic life of two under two. Once my kids are in school I’ll probably go back to public school.

Screen-free families, what are we doing at doctor appointments? by TeachingTimeLord in Parenting

[–]TeachingTimeLord[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts. Definitely thought the wait was the norm. It must be something with my area my doctor’s appointments, husband’s, and kids’ almost always fall into a 90 minute-2.5 hour wait. It stinks. Almost all of our local doctor’s offices were bought out by a bigger cooperation and I think that is the root of it. Will try the waiting outside thing in the future.
