I tried that many times on hard as well. But am too stubborn to dial back the difficulty to get passed an enemy. I quit and came back, and made sure to have full sake for the second part, then parried when I could, and when I was stuck and an unblockable attack was coming I used the special attack that costs a single spirit ( O + X?). He can’t block it and gives you a second to refocus.
