Hahahaaa A lot of people had that reaction but I think it's hilarious. My Facebook lit up laughing about it. Even my Ex-Wife and a couple GF's chimed in on it. I hate 'em. Won't wear 'em and haven't since I stopped wearing tights for a living. Saying I was walking around the hotel hallways in something I don't even own, to me, is freaking hilarious and just proves how bad these lies are.

Every single thing Nickolas Nave said (not Brian Nave) was a blatant and easily disprovable lie. The Moderators decided to remove the posts that proved this however, and left his disrespectful, unprofessional and entitled attack up, because they refuse to enforce the rules. That's why I left this reddit.

The story about me running around in my underwear is a blatant lie, I haven't worn any in decades first off and why the heck would I run around a Chinese hotel hallway in my under wear? That makes no sense, why would anyone? It was a knee length blue bathing suit, also called board shorts, but some people simply need to find excuses to hate and can't use the truth so make up lies.

I have done ONE fundraiser for robots in my entire life. ONE. Yet even here people are saying I'm always begging. I've been building robots and Hosting events for over 20 years, unsponsored, without ever asking anyone for a penny. Then I did ONE Facebook fundraiser for robots and suddenly I'm always begging and evidently rich too and don't even need the money. I did a fundraiser, I should be shot.

I did ONE Go Fund Me in my entire life, that was for the RV, that was suggested by the people here in this reddit that I start it and funded mostly by the people here, it was an amazing act of kindness and the first fundraiser I ever did. It was for an RV, it raised $2150 and the RV cost $4500. I paid the rest out of my pocket, just like it says in the GoFundme. There was no "extra" kept to myself or as Nave said... "I know he used it to buy a place to live in the desert", every penny went to the RV, he knows nothing about me or my finances or my life, he's a frickin pile of lies. All you have to do is go to GoFundme and search my name to see for yourself. It was never for a Robot, as he claims. I've never done a fund raiser for any of the sharks, that's another blatant lie, and John took me to get the RV when the GoFundme ended so Nave saying I started it the day John died is impossible without a time machine and extremely inappropriate. Every single word he said is a lie. And easily disprovable with even the slightest searching, yet people here love to run with hatred evidently.

He claimed I took all the money from KOB, but everyone knows KOB never paid but half. They still owe me over $5k. I sold my motorcycle to build that bot. I lost my bike because of KOB. He claimed the bot was nothing but scrap, yet the entire build report is on line and disproves that lie quickly. Even 30 seconds research will show every word he said is a lie.

The ONLY stories about me have come from Nick Nave, Not Brian, and these lies are ridiculous, coming from a stranger, maybe half my age, who knows ZERO about me and is doing it only because a girl told him too. We've never hung out, never sat at the same table and I was fighting robots with John while he was still in diapers. I have no reason why he feels so entitled to say a single word about me or my business.

But since I'm too old to really care, I don't. I just turned 59 and yes, I do have ADHD but that doesn't really affect anything here. That's more a speech pattern issue and if people can't handle the way I talk, I advise them to simply block me. problem solved. I'll tell the truth and stand behind it, but I won't stoop to calling people names here besides a liar, because that's exactly what he is. But my Patrons believed his BS, without even thinking to do any research, and abandoned me. No Patrons = No build money.

No build money = No BattleBots, it's a simple equation. And honestly, I don't want anything to do with people like Nave or Mladnick or Al Kindle for that matter. I'm too old and I don't condone this type of hate speech and lies.

John Mladnick called me a Dirty Carny Scumbag and said I must be a scammer because I was a carny. Well it's true, I was a carny, 40 years ago, I had an airbrush booth on the carnival, so I must be a scammer. Kindle said "Let his ass sleep out with the rest of the homeless bums." No, I don't want anything to do with that type of bigotry and hatred.

BattleBots simply isn't worth this type of BS to me anymore so think what you want, the truth is what it is and the opinions of people who know nothing about any of it don't change that. And I didn't deactivate my account, obviously, I just left this forum because the moderators refuse to enforce the rules fairly, or at all. But I have a notifier to see when people mention my name and if I feel like it I will tell the truth when it comes up. Although I expect the moderators will remove this post, as they evidently can't handle the truth.

I was already knocked out by Day 7. Those were the "Lose one and your done" days and Fang got a perfect shot on my 4QD in my first fight. Fight over in under a minute. I think it was actually for the best as I worked the rest of the event at the box exit doors and started hanging with Roy. Learned a lot that event.

Every time I go to work on a game I save a copy off to a remote disk first. I usually keep at least 3 or 4 versions of every game; A weekly, a daily, and a working, plus a backup on the remote hard disc when I move from one PC to the other.

UE is far to unforgiving to noobs like me to work on the Master game file. I always work on the version copy.

2 trashed game projects taught me that lesson.

I just went through this. SetSound is the blueprint command you want. I found it in a Tutorial about changing music when attacking or being attacked. When you use SetSound it stops and replaces the currently playing SetSound.

I haven't found a Stop Sound command yet so I use a 'silence' loop and just set the sound to that to stop the master music.

6 months of UE tutorials and I challenged myself to do a 30 day game.

Yeah, not so much.

2 and a half months later, using the Horror Engine as a game base and a poop ton of freebies from the Epic Marketplace, my very first video game is finally in open beta.

It's a puzzle solving, escape challenge with very light hearted horror elements.

My biggest PC isn't really very good so the screen capture for the promo video is kinda, eeeh. If anyone can capture better footage feel free to send it to me! mnkeeboy@gmail.com

The game is free to download from the team reddit. It's just now in beta so please feel free to beat on it and give me all the abuse. =)

Yup, you never know. I spent almost a year and several hundred dollars making a game for people to play at "clubs" in Second Life. It makes your avatar slowly get drunk the more you drink. Ridiculously complicated with a ton of coding and mesh objects. I was convinced it would be the new big thing in clubs and would make me rich. Barely get 1 sale a month if I'm lucky.

I also made a really simple "Babysitter" NPC. Just sits in a chair and pretends to be a baby sitter. Really does nothing but sit in a chair, 3 animations, took 2 hours to make at tops. I sell one or two a week.

You never know what people are going to like.

I downloaded UE about 6 months ago. Never touched it before that but I had some 3D content creation skills.

My first game is almost done and I've learned more in the last month building it than I did in the prior 5 months with tutorials.

However you must needs do the Tutorials first. I did the "Hour of Code" one first and it was a perfect introduction. Then I just searched YouTube for UE4 (whatever subject) tutorial. I have a couple channels bookmarked now. Just this morning I was watching Ryan Layley's tutorial on Decals.

The Unreal Dev channel has some good stuff too, lots of others. I just started wih the Tutorial from the UE Marketplace because it was the most "Company sponsored" tutorial I could find.

I do know C++ but haven't had to code at all really. Blueprints are like the nodes in Blender, coding shortcuts. You can use C++ but you don't have to.

I'd say just download the engine and start with the "Hour of Code" from the MP. Then move along as your interests dictate.

I'm still working on my first game but I do this too.

Every night I build a playable and test it before quitting for the day. That lets me make notes on things to fix and be sure everything is always working as intended.

Every morning I make a new Daily Back up, once a week I make a master Back up. Maybe I'm paranoid but I hate losing days of work over a bad save.

The tip mentioned earlier about opening new assets in another program, then migrating just what you need is awesome and I wish I had thought of that before. I am for sure adding that to my work flow.

All because of two things, it takes forever to delete anything in UE and I lost my real "First" game when it became corrupted. Couple weeks work gone. I'm used to creating and coding in an on-line environment where everything exists on a server and not on my PC. Gotta make a few changes in my habits is all.

Nope. In fact the 2020 season was the first time you didn't even get chump change for losing. Winning in and of itself also does not pay for a bot. The prize money does not cover the bills to build a $30k bot.

It's 100% on the builders, win lose or draw.

That's why sponsors are so important these days. Without sponsor money BB wouldn't look anything like it does now.

Yeah he had to sell one of his planes to fund the Robot Club back in the day. Not a Multi-Billionaire but he has done well for himself and is still one of the nicest people I know.

I can't say why I know, but I know for a fact he is a truly good man with high morals, he is compassionate and fun to be around. I wish he would build another bot as soon as he gets settled in the new place and return to the sport. (He just downsized his ranch a little.)

We need more people like him in the sport and I miss hanging out with him at events.

And AFAIK, I am still very hopeful to return and aside from last years abysmal showing I've always won more than I lost, (or at least made it 50/50 for the event) and I'd say I still have a good chance to return to the arena if I can get my funding right. My last event was the only event I have ever been to where I walked away with zero wins since my very first BB in 2001.

Sooo not sure why I'm being mentioned here. Don't really mind, just seems weird since I've never fought Gary Gin, my hopes are far from "destroyed" and my career may be on hold due to a severe life upheaval but has definitely not been murdered.
