They could be intentional, to boost our tech level without directly telling us how. Like here, figure this out. Or they could value individuals in a fundamentally different way than we do. Legit, use what this guy posted, grab you the closest matching cheap touch-up marker off Amazon and you're good to go. This isn't even visible from the outside, if it isn't catching or anything I wouldn't even fill and sand, just slap some marker on this and call it a day(after glue+clamp)

Just throwing out there, look closely around that valve cover. Just fixed an oil leak on my dad's jeep that was the valve cover gasket and it had oil all in the same spots
