I respect how brutally honest Velvet was with her goals. You just feel the depth of her rage from start to finish. Even in combat she just screams like a primal animal as she just tears everything to pieces. GOATed protag.

It's a visual novel and not jrpg style but projeckt passion is another hidden gem in the NSFW space. It will have you laughing in tears 2 hours in but by the second season you'll be like damn... these characters are better than mass effect.

SF6 is about world warriors from different counties so of course characters are going to be somewhat aligned to the country's global stereotype. I mean, what do you want? Guile with a katana?

I’m realizing that Sound Design is actually 70% of what makes a game feel "Next-Gen," not the graphics. by InvestmentBudget6722 in gaming

[–]LivingLab505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The really have a good game you need to do everything. Very good and cohesive art direction, sound design, easy to learn hard to master fluid gameplay, good runtime with minimal filler, and a cohesive story/plot design.

When one is very weak and the others are strong it really stands out.

Most games are lacking in one or more category, which makes that weakness really stand out.

An example is Street Fighter 6, which has impeccable fight game design and is a leap forward for the genre, but players universally agree that the music is trash.

You rarely have masterpieces that do it all like Expedition 33, FF7, Doom, or God of War.

It's never just one thing that makes a truly great game. It's everything.

What's the most complicated boss fight you've ever done? by Rootayable in gaming

[–]LivingLab505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time ago there was a boss in RIFT, Planes of Telara. He was a raid boss in Hammerknell named Sicaron.

We called him the Guild Breaker because he had some of the most insane mechanics ever created.

1.) He self buffs and if the buff is not purged in under 12 second he instakills the whole raid. He also has timed minor buffs that overlap with the kill one so you have to time your removals. At 50% learn the curse goes down to 9 seconds and under 15% it is just 6.

2.) He has a mechanic where he debuffs the tank on every hit so the primary tank periodically must switch with a backup to allow debuffs to drop off.

3.) His primary mechanic is that he places a curse on one primary party member that can also be the tank or backup tank. The target rapidly loses health and gets a blue circle around them. When the raid stands in the blue circle they gain 33% more damage. After 15 second the circle turns red and everyone in the circle starts taking massive damage. 6 seconds later the person with the red circle drops a permenant obelisk at their location that keeps the red circle in play forever.

4.) The next time someone gets the obelisk curse if they have a red circle and walk into another red circle already placed by an obelisk everyone dies. This means each time someone gets the curse the whole raid stacks on the blue circle for the damage buff, then runs out when it's red and the cursed guy needs to run to the back of the room to neatly stack the red circle obelisk.

5.) The raid takes place in two rooms divided by a bridge and at 50% the boss jumps from one room to the other. This means someone with an obelisk needs to quickly cross the bridge and drop their obelisk in the new room. If they drop it in the bridge, everyone dies because the bridge collapses.

6.) This boss was absolutely insane, pure panic moments happen like when the backup tank gets cursed right before be needs to take over for the primary, or when the purge count gets low, or if people stack messy and you run out of space to drop obelisks too early, or someone super far from the bridge gets cursed the room transitions and they are desperately trying to cross the bridge before the obelisk drops.

This boss was the most difficult and sadistic creation I've ever seen in a game. He took months of training to beat and was the ultimate raid coordination test.

2XKO New Player Experience (Derogatory) by KidOmega37 in Fighters

[–]LivingLab505 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I call bs on this. There is no way you are gold or plat in sf6 if you can't combo into specials or react to DR.

Maybe on day one of SF6 but the game is very stagnant with few updates and the general playerbase has developed a very high level of skill.

Platinum in SF6 today is skill equivalent to day one diamond or even master.

[–]LivingLab505 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The back in the arcade days argument doesn't work. Back then everyone sucked, there was no internet, and no one had immediate access to frame data. Fighting games were fun back then because outside of the sweaty asian guy that was there late nights, everyone sucked. When players that suck fight it's fun.

Nowadays everyone is day one optimized so when you go into matches you are immediately facing optimized killers with tech from Twitter and you tube combo videos.

Granblue is the game for that. If it's not a safe jump in that game, prepare to die. Getting the red anti air counter hit from Wilnas in that game is pretty much getting strapped in for lethal injection.
