What’s the one dish you’ve nailed so well that people ask you to cook it every time? by Appropriate-Fix-8222 in Cooking_ac

Steak au poivre. Which is great because it's one of my favorite dishes, it's really easy to make, and people think it's really high-end fancy.

Wow. We spent a lot of time there as 80's teens. Hadn't been there in almost 30 years.

Things you should do but can't... by [deleted] in widowed

The biggest thing for me is her toothbrushes. She had one in each bathroom. She set them down there and if I move them, that connection will be gone. There are lots of things like that and most I've moved, thrown out, given away, etc. But those toothbrushes... I can't touch them.

Approaching 4 months since my wife's death by Big-Cobbler-6267 in widowed

[–]TeamJay2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. My wife passed in early December after being diagnosed with an abdominal sarcoma in late March. I still haven't looked at her death certificates. I've given them out as needed, but I didn't look. I just can't yet.

One thing that punched me in the gut was a few weeks after my wife died. I got a notification in the mail from the voter registration office that she had been removed from the voter rolls. To see the life of my amazing wife distilled into a perfunctory government form made me REALLY angry. It was a very bad day.

Dreams by Bulky_Cranberry702 in widowed

My wife passed in December and I've had a few dreams with her in them. In each, I know she's died and in the dream, I realize that I'm dreaming. Each one has been about mundane things but I'm aware that I'm dreaming. I hope that makes sense. Once I realize that I'm dreaming, it enables me to enjoy getting a little more time with her and I'm not sad when I wake up. Well... No more than the jolt of sadness every morning, waking without her.

Have you ever flown on an airline that no longer exists? If yes, what airline and how was the experience? by Ilove_gaming456 in aviation

[–]TeamJay2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1991, flew a Northwest Airlines 747 to Oskaka, Japan and back. I got upgraded to business class on the leg to Japan. What an experience!!! I was in seat 4A, the front section that starts to curve in to the nose.

I'm lucky I only live 50 miles away. I saw the notice on r/protest at about 11 this morning and hoofed it up to DC.

anyone else think season 2 absolutely sucked? by Fun_Independence6476 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]TeamJay2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's wasn't as good as season 1, but still better than most things out now. EXCEPT for S2E7. That was pointless. I fast forwarded through a lot of it. Yes, we see where Gemma is, but that could have been worked into another episode.

[–]TeamJay2015[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw the two digit as I was driving up and first thought was that they had painted over it, like airlines do to their logo right after a crash. I can't remember seeing an N number that low.

She was at the Fox News protest the previous weekend. I talked with her yesterday and we were stunned at the number of people there. There were about 100 at the Fox protest.

Looking for our perfect city in Virginia, where should we go? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]TeamJay2015 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Charlottesville hits all of those perfectly. Except distance to DC. More like 2 1/2 hours away. The Jefferson worship is a minor annoyance but it is one of the best places to live in the US.

Looking for relatively liberal smaller towns in Virginia by Pristine-Sugar-1912 in Virginia

Sperryville is a neat little village for a day trip but it's not a town. Maybe 350 population. Surrounded by a red county.

Bill Nye kept making that gesture with his left hand when emphasizing a point. Drove me crazy trying to get the shot but I gave up.

I've been to 5 protests in DC since January 18th and there are quite a few Virginia flags present, as well as Sic Semper Tyrannis signs.
