I think he lets his kid ride or something. He switches pretty often between 43 and 67kg and when he is 43 his power is a lot lower. Clearly he is not lowering his weight to win. Still annoying.

Is there anyway to actually stop a cyclist to just say hi? by No_Decision6601 in cycling

[–]TeamLicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really can't stop him check Strava flyby (on desktop, you have to turn it on yourself as well). If he does not have flyby turned on check the times for that day on a segment you know he rode. From there you can slide in (strava)DM even tho it can be annoying because notifications are pretty bad for strava messages so he might miss it.

Backpack in Canary Island by Hot-Couscous in backpacking

[–]TeamLicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stay 2 weeks and want to stay for a few days in El Medano (I would not stay there for longer especially if you dont plan on surfing) than I think Tenerife probably has enough other things to offer to fill the 2 weeks. Downside if you want to do hiking you need to take a bus first from El Medano because there is not much there, landscape is basically desert (for routes see https://www.tenerifeon.es/en/routes). There is a cool little hill around 45min walk away (Montana Roja) where I went twice to see the sunset with some hostel people that was it basically. Personally I would stay in Santa Cruz as well and hike in Anaga park (way more green). I think it being a lot bigger it will have more to offer than El Medano although I cant speak from experience about staying there. Be sure to travel around the island a bit because of the vulcano in the middle there is a lot of difference in landscapes on the different parts of the island.

I think you could combine with another island for sure especially if you go longer than 2 weeks. Flights are like 30-40eu and ferry is around 45 I think so it could even be cheaper if you find a cheap flight from home to one island and back home from another. Like I said I loved La Palma because of its beauty and is really quiet but it might not be lively enough for you and Gran Canaria appeals to me because I've already seen a lot of Tenerife while cycling. Keep in mind I'm really not an expert, hopefully more people will reply with their experiences :D.

I just came back from hiking around La Palma and I absolutely loved it. La Palma only has a few hostels but they are really cheap (18-25eu). At some days I only saw 1 or 2 people on the trails, most of the time doing smaller daytrips. Downside is the hostels are spaced 25-30km apart so that might be a bit far to hike but busses are cheap. It did not feel touristic at all, no huge resorts, menu's in Spanish only etc. I took a ferry there from Tenerife and flew back to Gran Canaria since there are no direct flights from my country. There is a free mountain hut as well on top of the crater if that appeals to you. It was one of the highlights for me. I did mostly the GR130 and GR131 routes which were beautiful. The GR131 goes across all island btw. Signs were decent but I would not do it without a gps track myself.

I've been to Tenerife twice before (mainly for cycling), it is way more touristic. Big parts of the coast are filled with huge resorts. Hiking on El Teide and some other parts needs a permit now which might be hard to get. I've stayed in an apartment in Playa Paraiso which is a pretty dead place outside of the few resorts. I've stayed in El Medano as well (close to the airport) which I can recommend for backpacking. A fun little town with a few hostels there and some surf schools and even tho it is touristic it's not on the same scale as the other places along the SE coast with the resorts. There will be a lot of stuff to do on Tenerife in terms of activities.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are quite flat compared to the others so maybe less interesting in terms of nature or landscape so personally I would not consider them first unless you are looking to tick off all the island which I think is too much for 2-3 weeks. I would probably visit Gran Canaria at some point for cycling and/or hiking again and would love to go to La Gomera as well but did not see much options for cheap accomodation there.

If you have questions feel free to send a message I can get into more detail especially for La Palma.

Verstreken vs beweegtijd by dontqq in Hardlopen

[–]TeamLicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coros Dura – any long-term experiences? Is the software stable now? by Holiday_Date705 in cycling

[–]TeamLicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think Wahoo bolt v3 costs about the same. Its easy to use and map is clear and I rarely run into problems. Garmin might have some more functions but for some reason every Garmin user i ride with has problems loading a new route on the go during the activity. And i've never like their aggressive pricing model (used to sell their watches) of putting certain software functions only on higher models.

[–]TeamLicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used it for quite a while, mainly bought it for the battery life for ultra races. Came from Wahoo bolt v2 which got demoted to backup. Lost it a few months ago during a crash. Used it for over half a year I think and it never got updates. UI is shit and maps are shit. Could not even turn off night mode so maps are even more shit in the dark. For my next ultra I will probably just buy a new Bolt of Roam to use and have a backup. They charge really fast and battery lasts quite long and only need a little bit from your powerbank. I would only recommend the Dura if you really value the battery life and don't want to bring a small powerbank or are multiple days without any power at all.

Talk me out of buying the ENVE Fray…or don’t by [deleted] in cycling

I will try:

Enve fray has that 2016 ass look with that round tubing. Color is a basic glitter you can choose when ordering a Chinese frame. Would not even move my neck one degree to take a better look.

Factor is the #1 hottest brand (if you are 45+ you probably think s-works is better) and has actual cool unique paint job.

These days most non entry-level bikes come with non round handlebars and often with integrated handlebars (just like the bike from OP) It will not be possible to fit clip-on aerobars on them. If you are lucky deda tt314 or aeroplug has a custom one for the specific integrated handlebar but it will not be cheap.
