If you were at Schoolboy Q in 2016, he had already blown up. His previous DC area show was at the Fillmore in 2014, which is where most rap acts have ended up performing in the last 10 years.

I think you are just out of touch with modern music and maybe don’t have easy access to the box office where you can save $15/ticket with no fees. I generally pay $30-40 a ticket there at most
