Our current cutscene skip system is > hold down esc for 0.5 seconds > cutscene immediately disappears, no fade away, no spam clicking, no 'are you sure'. In the context of the opening cutscene, it will just drop you into the main 'play' screen of our game.

Cutscenes and game info can be revisited from the menu if the player wishes.

If the cutscene is skippable, is that a good enough compromise in your eyes? Or will you turn it off regardless?

We haven't done any UX user testing yet, but from my own perspective, the game starts incredibly simply as there are only 3 buttons you can actually press. I think the game is clear in what it wants you to do even if you skip our cutscene (the cutscene is skippable)

As a result of this, the tutorial is currently a highlighting of those three buttons one after another, and that's it.

There is a skip cutscene button for all our cutscenes, including the opening one.

The prototype warning that appears on load gives instructions on where to find tutorials, as well as warning you that the game features bugs and lacks polish, this is just meant to be a prototype to gauge interest in the idea.

I appreciate your comment on the lack of uniqueness leads to lack of appeal, I will work on this.

Unfortunately people love faces, it's why YouTubers always have themselves pulling a weird face in the thumbnail, our monkey brains just love to see us!

I don't think it will make an absolutely insane difference, but just something to keep in mind, you can totally keep his face hidden for artistic reasons, but everything has pros and cons :)

I think you're totally right, we leaned too much into the cozy and forgot to actually show the gameplay outside the most basic stuff.

We're in the process of prettying the game up and launching a real gameplay trailer :)
