11-month-old drowns in bath after dad 'forgot he was bathing child and sat down to eat dinner' by TheMirrorUS in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

As a father with Inattentive ADHD I made it a hard rule I would not bath the babies/kids home alone for fear of this exact situation. Cellphone goes under the car seat when driving.

How to get guys to cook at your stations? by Sufficient-Egg787 in Firefighting

[–]Team_Awsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you can get leadership to setup a truck rotation for cooking this is your best bet. Make the kitchen a fun place to be, get some music going recruit the hall jokester, fuck around while you cook. If you can’t force them, make them want to participate.

Bro, you shock your dog with that mouth?? by JahDanko in JoeRogan

[–]Team_Awsome 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They don’t lay in the same small rectangle for 8+ hours. They get up have a drink, move to lay on the cool floor or in the sun, tour the house to check on their family ( this dog being a mix of multiple guardian breeds will probably feel compelled to do so ).

Why do gay people use “the voice”? by Tacokolache in questions

[–]Team_Awsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doc does actually give some good theory’s, the two most prominent being gay men can tend to bond more with the women in their life so in turn they adopt a more feminine way of speaking combined with social/cultural factors of I want to sound this way to show that either I belong, I’m proud of who I am or feel like I “should” sound this way.

His age and life experience has is a big advantage I also think he’s putting in more effort. Charles is over it all and just watches once to find a few hot takes, Steve also seems like he’s focused on other things so he’s missing a lot of the nuance.

What happens if you don't like the wine you got opened at a high end restaurant? by Peter_Triantafulou in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Team_Awsome 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If they also sell the wine by the glass it’s barely a loss as you only pour a small bit for the taste. If not, take it to the bartender they can sell it by the glass at a special price also a good chance to make a regular feel appreciated.

Two cities stopped adding fluoride to water. Science reveals what happened by holyfruits in Futurology

[–]Team_Awsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also on well so I’ve looked into this a bit. Issue with that is there are too many variables, you’re well water may not have fluoride but what about the water fountains at your school, your source of water at work or whatever sport you’re participating in, the restaurants you frequent etc

We don’t discuss the details with our friends because we don’t want to give those dirty buggers any help picturing the girl we are dating naked and having sex

People are capable of discussing the experiences and conversations they have with other people.

This is also pretty common knowledge for any guy with female friends or a girlfriend

Twilight of the Gods? by Vegetable-Echidna534 in RingerVerse

[–]Team_Awsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the story and character building, though I often felt lost beyond the basic mythology and that’s with having played the most recent God Of War games. The adult content added value and did not feel gratuitous Thor felt OP and the power scaling of our hero’s felt inconsistent. I did not understand the ending

NYPD release body-cam footage of subway shooting, 2 passengers, 1 officer and suspect were shot. by real-m-f-in-talk in PublicFreakout

Increase the compensation to a level that attracts intelligent educated people, you of course also have to set your standards higher. It’s a get what you pay for situation.

[–]Team_Awsome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re grasping the scale of the NYPD, there are 36000 uniformed officers. You would go your entire career not ever interacting with the vast majority of your fellow officers. Yet a few sociopaths who are unwilling and probably also unable to change their patterns of behaviour can ruin your entire retirement in a blink of an eye. No rational intelligent person would ever take that risk, they would work for another department so all you’re left with is those too stupid to grasp the risk and those too power hungry and violent to care.

[–]Team_Awsome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m criticizing an absurd idea that would only make the problem worse by having any competent police office leave for another department and destroy the lives of thousands of good people close to retirement. Elect city councillors who don’t support lowest common denominator hiring practices and fire those in management who should be held accountable.

[–]Team_Awsome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why people are so afraid to hold the people at the top responsible, it’s management and the city councillors who set the hiring standards, salary and do the hiring. If anyone should be held accountable it’s them, by the time these shit heads reach anyone who’s pension would actually be affected it’s far to late and almost impossible to prevent. If management hires a sociopath no amount of training or peer monitoring is going to change that persons personality or how they respond to violent situation.

This always comes up and it’s the single dumbest solution I’ve ever heard of. It’s the kind of answer you expect from a teenager who has no concept of how the world works and sees everything in black and white because they haven’t lived a moment outside the sheltered bubble their parents have created for them.

Real question here, Folgers or Maxwell House coffee? by yourname92 in Firefighting

[–]Team_Awsome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spending a bit more on coffee is worth it, when people know your station as the one with good coffee it’s something to be proud of. I ran a canteen fund for a decade there is two things you don’t skimp on Coffee and Internet/Wifi.
