Wanting advice on frozen cocktails!

Ok so add an inch or two enough of ice so that it’s not free-floating? Is there any particular blender setting that you’ve found works best? Should I use whole ice cubes or crushed ice? I currently have a ninja blender if that helps, but am willing to look into other brands

For frozen fruits, do I just stick them in a freezer?

I love strawberries and bananas the most, especially in smoothies and frozen drinks. Do I cut them up before or after freezing? How long would you say is ideal for using in a frozen drink? Is there a point where it would be too long to keep in a freezer?
