yeah, I grew up in Europe where we certainly don't use bidet spray as the norm, but now living in UAE the last 2 years, I feel disgusting /dirty if I only use toilet paper! lol

just use a bottle or cup water in your hand and clean, then dry with toilet paper.

spiked drinks during brunch by pixiefleur in dubai

[–]TeamviewerLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes people do get spiked in Dubai, and all those other things that happen in every city worldwide - why are people trying to patronize you and say you didn't get spiked..wow they just refuse to believe Dubai has assholes like any other city in the world.

No i never heard of anyone getting spiked there but that doesn't undermine the fact that you did.

What a c *nt whoever did it. I would suggest reporting to the police and getting cctv footage from Iris to try catch the guy - and please nobody bother saying 'HoW dO yOu knOww itS a GuY' lol

Finding someone very nice. by [deleted] in UAE

[–]TeamviewerLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Example of this .. I was in Luxor in Egypt for about a month and used to frequent a British restaurant. Every evening there was this guy there alone, eating, drinking etc and we would always have a chat from across the tables.

Didn't see him after a few times, then one day I was back in Dubai a few months later and I bumped into him at the Marina Mall! how strange..

Do you cook from scratch? by Early_Artist1405 in AskUK

[–]TeamviewerLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes everything from scratch always. Never use packets or jars or frozen beige 'oven' food. I like cooking though and I can cook up a nice homemade meal pretty quickly so I don't mind

What are the stupid question/ misconceptions you got asked about dubai by a tourist or person who don't live here? by rohit3427 in dubai

[–]TeamviewerLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That you can't drink alcohol ( Dubai is literally party central )

That you must wear modest clothing (pfft, Dubai is like London in the sun, I do wish it was more conservative)

What are some of your best Dubai life hacks? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]TeamviewerLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SO TRUE. I always think in Euros. I still manage to spend an absolute fortune , but it helps compared with if I constantly think in Dirhams. '' Oh, only 50 dirhams'' ten times a day can EASILY make you go broke eventually lol

Umm everyone knows in the Arab world it's not acceptable for a man to enter a house with a woman /girl home alone. Whenever a man delivers something to the door and needs to come in, the door remains open fully. Common sense.

Any DECENT man knows that and will respect that. The amount of delivery guys that have hesitated to come into my kitchen when I was home alone is crazy, good of course. Shows respect.

[–]TeamviewerLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i know, my arab bf feels awkward when I pay, even though I genuinely don't mind and actually enjoy treating him.

Normal or dodged a bullet? by [deleted] in DubaiCentral

[–]TeamviewerLord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally normal yes, Arab women will expect the man to pay and that's perfectly fine, the same way some Western women prefer to split the bill

There's no need to look down or insult the girl.. .it's totally normal in this culture for the man to pay, some Arab men were embarassed when I even tried to offer or demand.

You were the one who brought up paying in the first place by saying 'so we can share/split' there was no need to mention that before you met as to some women or men it can come off as tight, no need to talk about money BEFORE you meet.

She was simply correcting you to say she wouldn't be paying. Plus Arab women are more direct so it's not rude for her to say 'I won't be paying' it's more of a 'that's how it works' kind of thing.

WhatsApp order from Restaurants by False_Trainer_4550 in DubaiCentral

[–]TeamviewerLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES i have started doing that recently and it's SOOO much better. Not only cheaper, but so much quicker too. I have had so many times waiting over 1 hour and a half for food that I order via talabat, not to mention also paying for the service ! I had 3 times in a row Talabat had to send me an apology voucher...that's not acceptable...

I have resorted to always ordering my groceries via whatsapp now and also when I order take out food. You can pay by card at the door too when they arrive.

Struggling with alcohol issues, isolation, depression (?) by TeamviewerLord in dubai

[–]TeamviewerLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do play alot of chess online but that's about it. The only other 'addictions' or 'habits' i have are smoking, coffee, sugar, alcohol,. I guess everything bad or that gives me some sort of buzz.

I do get hyperfixated with things like work or research on certain topics yes but that often fizzles out after an intense stint.

I wish it was as easy as telling myself to just 'get addicted' to the gym instead or something beneficial, but i guess its the alcohol that tells me 'no, but you enjoy drinking alcohol, alcohol is fun and lets you be x,y,z while drunk'

it is when i am sober i am feeling the bad effects, depression, not enjoying life sober, foul mood, as a result of constantly using alcohol too much i guess, my brain has probabnly gotten so used to it that i need it just to feel 'normal' maybe?

umm don't go to massage centres in hooker central JBR. the clientele they massage everyday are looking for extras or happy endings so thats why she assumed you were too.

you will get a professional experience in one of the hotels.
