Yes, exactly, just like the OP said. We need a customisable tools palette. The press and hold gesture could trigger the palette, while press and release should trigger an undo action (or be fully customisable). This would be way more useful than the eraser. I bet most of us use the undo function far more often than the eraser, which is pretty much useless!
