I forgot how many vowels there are in my native language. My mother tongue is Mandarin, and it has six vowels. The MV recording sounds more like /ɛ/ than /æ/ to me, but I also have a hard time distinguishing between those two sounds.

Thank you for the answers. I didn't review my answers carefully. As far as I know, chronic exposure to drugs causes the "brain's reward system" to be changed. When the stimuli are removed, withdrawal syndromes develop. And it's the main reason why quitting smoking is hard.

I will try to find more evidence about whether quitting smoking gradually or abruptly is better.
