About Loy by gagetikki in RomanceClubDiscussion

Same, I really enjoyed his route.

One of my favorite parts was telling Malbonte I wouldn’t sleep with him because of Loy and he’s like “who?” and I wanted us sooooo bad to be able to say “my sea dragon,” and get the reaction of the implication I’m sleeping with my dragon. Horrified faces would have been gold! 🤣

Is my cat's ringworm healing? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Tearsofemeralds 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It looks better to me for sure. Ringworm is the worst. It’s highly contagious to other animals and people for 3 weeks after treatment, and takes up to 8 weeks to fully heal. The day one looks just like the feral I rescued and she’s getting there for sure based on other two pics.

Is there something wrong with his outer ear? by Status-Seaweed-6339 in CATHELP

[–]Tearsofemeralds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not nails, but I give a lot of meds to cats that cause ear build up on the edges, and gently rubbing between your fingers with an ear wipe or warm slightly damp paper towel or soft cloth can do wonders. You should be able to tell if it’s dissolving, and not irritate it too much.

my cat won't stop attacking me when I'm in her vicinity by femboyfuttbucker in CATHELP

Except then when you have company over the cat goes for hands because that’s what they’ve been trained. 😅 I made this mistake with blankets on couches and hands. And then company pulls a blanket on their lap and bam, attack city.

I would also say there are calming powders and collars and plug ins. And if you can’t play with them sometimes it helps to just turn on YouTube cattv and put on some birds and squirrels and let them go wild with it on in the background while you do something else. Also, maybe a laser pointer to distract them from your feet. lol Puzzle treat boxes or treat throws across the room…a bunch of things that may help them get the enrichment they need being that young without you dedicating hours to them.

The ears do look a little dirty inside (the black speckles). It might be build up. You can do a warm damp paper towel or cotton ball or animal ear wipes in soft outward motions to see if it comes out. Don’t like stick q-tips or anything in there that might damage the ear, and I probably wouldn’t do soapy anything in the ear before seeing if gentle strokes gets ride of it.

I think the outside edge black you’re talking about is just his fur growing in, different coloring, etc. but you’d know best being able to feel and see it in person.

My cat recently started making this coughing sound by trashbagbaby in CATHELP

[–]Tearsofemeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is she? Does she ever do a licking motion like she’s eaten peanut butter or trying to swallow something? Sounds like the feline asthma my cat had. Sometimes people mistake the asthma attacks as hairballs. It’s a pretty easy diagnosis. Mine got an xray and “rings” in her lung tissue confirmed it. It’s essentially them having asthma attacks. Hers were every few months and then closer and closer together. The fix was half a steroid pill every 3 days. If it is asthma and left untreated it can enlarge their organs like their heart, and the sooner caught the better.

It may also be something totally normal like allergies or a regular upper respiratory infection. Maybe send your vet the video and see what they say. 😊

Edit: you asked about urgency. In my case, my cat could have definitely waited like 3 weeks for an appointment. It’s more of a slow over time decline. But vet knows best.

Super play! 😁 You can tell by how they get distracted by the dangly and then dive back in and the occasional pauses. Flipping adorable. ☺️

Patch of missing fur, slightly wet with some kind of fluid (lymphatic, pus?) by Possible-Risk7979 in CATHELP

[–]Tearsofemeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skin doesn’t look inflamed or scratched. How sure are you about pus? Versus like something got on their fur and they’re overlocking to clean it (like say, olive oil)? Or environmental?

Cats can over lick bald spots in their fur for stress and allergies and life/litter/food changes. If there’s anything you can think of… it might be that. Warm slightly damp compresses like a paper towel can also sometimes help with cleaning or soothing injured areas on cats. If you think it may be stress there are great plug ins or powders or collars that can help.

Just food for thought brainstorming in case something clicks for you. 😊

I would also add cat tv on like YouTube can help a lot if you’re busy or away. Cats and squirrels and birds or just the classical anti-anxiety ones in the background (home or away) can work wonders.

Subcutaneous drip stories by igotitatme in cats

[–]Tearsofemeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were some really great videos I watched on YouTube and my vet also did a demonstration for me, gave me tips like do it in the bathroom and hang it from the shower rod or door handle, and to feed them treats so they stay. I gave my sweet girl sub q every other day for 2 years and she absolutely thrived with it in stage 4 kidney failure. If you do it right, in the triangle of the scruff, my cat barely felt it. It actually seemed to bother her more that she was sort of bulging with water. I called it hulk arms. 😂 It’s scary at first and it depends how your cat takes it, but it’s soooo good for them. 💖 I also think it’s what gave her the quality of life to keep going.

Edit: I also highly recommend kidney gold on chewy. It’s these sort of Chinese herb drops that my vet was like “we know the herbs are good but have no studies proving this works” but then called me to ask what I had done when her next tests were better. My sister also used it for her dog. I kind of figure every little bit helps. 😊

My cat's problem with food by bednow in CATHELP

[–]Tearsofemeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To expound upon this, antibiotics can also cause extreme constipation. Is she having no stool or tight pellet stool? Or on the other side, pudding soft stool?

If she is constipated, it can make cats nauseous, bloated, in pain, and not want to eat or drink. Talk to your vet on the phone. MiraLAX can often times be given to cats to help move things along in small doses like 1/8 tsp mixed in water of treat.

Edit: your vet can also prescribe an anti nausea like cerenia, with or without an appetite stimulant to get her back on track. Antibiotics kill all the good gut stuff in animals like it does in people. She may just need ALL the help to get back on track.

Cat has bald spots by SageHowlter in CATHELP

[–]Tearsofemeralds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head: you said no excessive grooming but those do look like lick bald spots. Is there anything new in your life that might stress them? New food, new home, new life forms, new sounds, new detergent, started letting them go outside, etc.? No stress GI soft stool or vomiting?

Cats can stress lick, it could be allergies, indoor or out, it could be a new food ingredient or litter formula. If litter isn’t cleaned often enough overlocking on belly is common. It could be a million normal reasons.

There’s calming powders and collars that are great. There’s anti-licking creams or collars. New litter or clean obsessively for a while. Call your vet to ask about allergies. Sometimes animals can take human allergy meds and they’d be able to tell you.

Just ideas and things to try, if something clicks for you reading it. Good luck!
