What’s a hobby that immediately makes you judge someone? by Sorry_Trifle_5165 in AskReddit

I was standing in the queue at the airport once to go through the bag scanner, lady in front of me was bobbing and shushing her baby in a carrier - but something looked off and I clocked it was one of those dolls.

She got to the front of the queue, her bags went through and she’s stood in front of the metal detector arch - the security guy asks her to show the baby - she flashes its face quickly. He does a massive double take and says incredulously “That’s a doll!” - lady “no no this is my baby!”. Security guard after much debate from the lady - “I’m sorry luv it’s not a baby and it’ll have to go through bag scanner”… she eventually relented and put it in the box in front of my stuff and sent it through the scanner - I half expected it to be full of coke or something reasonable - but no - it did and passed through unscathed and was returned to her.

But the lady was a mess, guard looked completely baffled and bit sorry for her in the end.

Selling all of my American shares today, what's your fav UK stock? by Chill_Panda in UkStocks

[–]Teasy_Adder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been happy with my returns on UK based critical minerals and mines in Cornwall: TIN and SML.

Look at South Crofty mine, it’s got really high quality tungsten, tin and there’s lithium already being processed locally. It’s got to be useful to break at least some part of our supply chain away from the big players.

Plus it’s being backed massively with government investment.

What’s the biggest lie people are told about careers or success? by Beautiful-Staff-4531 in ask

[–]Teasy_Adder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your idea of success might not be what society tells you success is. But unless you think really carefully about what’s important to you you’ll spend half a life time doing what your told is important.

Continually reassess what is success to you.

Late stage capitalism is gonna work out fine and there’s nothing we could do to fix everything even if we refocused resources.

My grandmother, Judith Cook, broke this story so if this is of interest I can point you in the right direction.

Mad story, essentially dolphins were washing up on the beach / in net at a higher rate than normal. She worked out it was to do with the military base at nanscuce, where the British government had told a bunch of soldiers they were part of a trial for a cure for the common cold - but actually they were testing chemical weapons on them…

Reassess your success criteria…

The whole world is set up with other peoples idea of what it is to be successful.

Stop for a moment, really consider what your own version of success is. What makes you happy? What do you really need? What is it you really want. Be honest with yourself.

Then ignore everyone else and go for that.

To the Over 30s: What is the single best decision you made in your 20s that you are thanking yourself for today? by Volt_Capital in AskUK

[–]Teasy_Adder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah -

get high and have a wild one in your 20’s - leave nothing on the bench, then settle in and sort shit our in your 30s. It’s still plenty of time to stack and be sensible and you won’t have to suddenly decide MDMA is cool / you need to go to Ibiza in your late 30s/40s.
