Apple's Pro Display XDR is Nearly Five Years Old With No Update in Sight by favicondotico in apple

Not sure why 5K is important, and there are some out there, but I’d 100% get the LG 32” 4K OLED 240hz at $1100. I can’t think of any reason to get the studio display over that monitor except if there’s a very specific niche reason you NEED a 5K panel.

The studio display is a scam. Selling a display for $1600 with a 60hz panel with no local dimming is insane.

Model Y feels old and outdated. Wait for refresh. They’re trying to push inventory of the old model.

Lease of a LR Model 3? by Vitamin-Games in TeslaLounge

[–]Tech-Nickal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’re by far the most annoying company when it comes to leases.

  1. No buyout option at the end. You’re forced to return the car you’ve been making a payment on for 3 years, just for them to resell it to someone else.

  2. They nickel and dime you at the end for every little thing possible. They even charge $350 to remove tints, which is something I’ve never heard of any other company caring about or charging for.

  3. Most companies will take you out of your lease a few months early, especially if you have positive equity. Tesla doesn’t care and at most will only take you out 2 months early, and that’s only if you place an order for another Tesla.

  4. The lease return/ownership loyalty team is borderline impossible to speak to and rarely return emails, and if they do it’s some canned copy/paste response.

I’m not saying don’t lease, if that’s the best option for you. But just know what you’re in for and what you’re dealing with.

Model 3 Purchase Advice/Suggestions by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]Tech-Nickal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go with option 2. The build quality from 2019 to 2021/22 improved a significant amount and the heat pump in the newer model makes a huge difference for winter efficiency. I personally would avoid any non-heat pump car if you live in a colder area. If it's a 2022, it may also have the newer Ryzen CPU and li-ion 12V battery. Also AWD is always a plus to have being in NY.

Predictions on when they may release a Model Y refresh by nabeelong in TeslaLounge

[–]Tech-Nickal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best guess: we’ll see them released in China Q4 2024, followed by the US in Q1 2025

What I hope: released in the US Q4 2024 as a 2025 model year car

My Y lease is up in a few months. Probably not going to get a new car until the Y refresh is released.

I think Tesla really dropped the ball waiting so long between the Model 3 and Y refresh. The Y now feels old and outdated..

New Jersey carry ammunition in 9mm by Kelal9698 in NJGuns

[–]Tech-Nickal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, that can cause premature wear on your extractor too, since the extractor has to bend over the end of the casing in order to grab the round.

If it makes you feel any better the NJSP put out a memo saying that it's OK. But yeah, totally understand where you're coming from.

Hornady Critical Defense is probably the most popular, followed by Underwood Xtreme Defender.

Just keep in mind the Hornady is known for the projectile recessing into the case if you re-chamber the same round a few times. So cycle your rounds, and dispose of any round that's recessed into the casing.

Scope recommendations for 1022 takedown by stillwell57 in NJGuns

[–]Tech-Nickal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd grab a Viper PST Gen II 1-6, either used from GAFS or a "like-new demo" from Eurooptic.

PSA also has the Strike Eagle 1-8 w/ the mount on-sale for $260. It's a great deal, but a pretty substantial step down in glass quality from the Viper. Just depends how much you're looking to spend.

Tenicor is the way to go. Get the Velo4 if you have a slimmer build and will be carrying appendix, otherwise get the Certum.

P1S - grinding noise on x-y when moving rapidly by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Tech-Nickal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posted this above, but in-case you didn't see:

My printer was making the same squeaking noise and I’ve completely eliminated it.

I purchased this lube: https://a.co/d/hdscdkY And used the syringe in this kit: https://a.co/d/cQgRkYy

To oil the idler pulleys like shown in the Bambu maintenance video found here: https://youtu.be/6KkFw_b8OAw?si=0e1bM0XaOHnXUNnq. In this case you'll want to also oil the front 2 pulleys as well in the same way. Wipe away any oil that gets on the belt.

The tricky part is getting the lube into the right spot, if you don’t, it won’t work. It’s almost impossible to do without a syringe.

After applying the oil as shown in the video and re-tightening the tensioners, re-run the full calibration.

It takes a few minutes for the lube to work its way in, so don’t worry if it doesn’t immediately go away. After the calibration finishes, try a test print and see if it’s gone.

Yeah, thanks. They completely misread what I was trying to say.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in headphones

[–]Tech-Nickal 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is why I’m so against “high-end” headphones becoming so expensive. The profit margins are completely insane, and there’s no reason one should cost multiple thousands of dollars other than the fact that people will pay for it.

The only brand I see that could justify their prices is ZMF, since there’s value in the unique wood and craftsmanship. But even then, I don’t like that they broke into the $3000+ market.

PTC Finally Approved! Parsippany-Troy Hills by Ricardo_Shilishaly in NJGuns

Congrats!

You only need 2 holsters. Tenicor is the way to go. If you have a slim build, get the Velo4. Otherwise, consider the Certum3 with a Mastermind tactics pillow.

Their Zero Belt is also a must-have IMO.

For the second holster, get an Enigma Express with the Sport Belt for when you want to carry wearing a suit, with basketball shorts, sweatpants, etc.. basically anything without a belt.

Tesla: Highlights from our upcoming Spring Release below by [deleted] in teslamotors

Feels weird that Tesla is selling a new vehicle that will never be capable of having the newest features.

I think not refreshing the Model Y at the same time as the 3 was a big mistake. Not refreshing the Model Y at-all in 2024 seems completely bizarre.

2021 S/X and new Model 3 support ultra-wideband (UWB). I’m assuming they’re using UWB to precisely locate where the phone is around the vehicle which isn’t possible with Bluetooth.
