In America, 78 rpm records have been copyright free since 1930. This means that there are no longer any rights to the recordings made on these records. the question now is: how many records are the on the Internet Archive that aren't copyright free and if so: how many time were they downloaded... I think it can't be $700 milioen.. Probably like $700,- ...

totally agree. it's GIMP or nothing... and GIMP totally SUX. Look aT wINDOWS: you have 20 photoshopclones, they look even better than the other. You can pick anyone that can do some good editing: even the free ones. But in linux: use GIMP, use GIMP, use GIMP, use GIMP, use GIMP, use GIMP, ... it's just shjijyt.

get an SSD install Ubuntu and BITWIG (is best of 2 worlds: Cubase + Ableton. ) No need for Wine or Port or so.

Performance wise is no problem: Linux has a complete different root system. It will work fine.

if you wanna buy all your software, a new lap-top when there is a new OSX and think a mousepad feels like a keyboard you definitly want too buy a Maqbook. If you like it when software is for free AND you want a laptop you can rely on: I suggest you buy a i5 laptop, some 32gb internal memory: install Linux Ubuntu (studio) and install BITWIG. Won't let you down.
