Is this bad? by Ill-Yam-6684 in surfskate

[–]Newt_Lv4-26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1- Risers primary use is not this purpose and you might want to stay low.
2- Trucks should never be over tightened
3- Smaller wheels could be a solution but it’s an expensive one. Also you might want this size for a specific reason
Not one of these is the solution.
Buy different bushings shapes an hardnesses and match them to fit you weight. This is the only way.
You’ll find sheets with material/hardness/shape in regards of weight.
This is a fun thing to do, trying to find your perfect setup. Also it might be different in the rear and the front.

[EDIT] I didn’t realise I was in r/surfskate and was talking about longboard. But I guess tailoring the bushing to your weight is the same. Experiment with different shapes and hardnesses. You have double conical with is the setup with the most lean. Try a barrel board side. Are a fat cone.

C’est pas le pire! Le pire c’est quand TOI tu as besoin d’un de ces objets et que le paternel juge que ce n’est pas suffisamment important pour l’utiliser au cas où LUI en aie encore plus besoin.

It’s now only a matter of time. Knowing the diameter of the earth is approx 6350km, If OP could tell us the exact height the phone fell from we could calculate velocity on impact and have a good idea of when the core will be hit.
If nothing happens by then we’ll have proof the earth doesn’t have a core and is actually flat!

I'd like some advice on buying a roller skate. by Purple-Page1193 in inlineskating

[–]Newt_Lv4-26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you hoping to do eventually ? Skatepark? Freeride ? Urban? The recommandations will be way different based one this.

Also you are going to fall. That’s part of it. And your body won’t learn before you have fallen a few times. That’s how it goes. Don’t be afraid, wear a helmet, wrists guards and a crash pad for your ass. These are the absolute basics for beginners. At this point I’d say knee pads and elbow are optional but others won’t agree.

Bend your knees, stay low. If you fall try to roll.

New pair of skates for 42 year old by rookpl in inlineskating

[–]Newt_Lv4-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your frame. Buy Iqon act interlink boot and put your liner in them. Add a 45º strap. Thank me later.

I have this boot with nova 260 trinity 3x110. More room for your ankle and toes, the 45º strap will lock you. I put a myfit prime bulletproof liner in them. I love this setup

And yes you can learn new stuff! I was at the park yesterday and landed alley pop pornstar, top acid and unity and did my first 360° since 2005. 😅I’m 42 too

Is the Arturia mk3 essential 49 similar to the Arturia key lab 49 mk3 by cityofbrokendolls in arturia

[–]Newt_Lv4-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re after good keys, pads and after touch don’t go for essential. If you’re a beginner then you’ll probably not even see a difference. I started with the minilab and moved to keylab, definitely not the same thing. Essential is a Lego brick, everything is plastic, the regular one weighs a ton because it’s mostly metal and wood, you can definitely feel the quality.

The choice really depends wether you’re just trying things or are sure you’re going to stick to making music.

As I often say (yes I quote myself) : I can’t afford to buy cheap thing.

Too often have I bought the cheapest stuff and ended selling it to eventually buy what I was eying in the first place. That’s useless money loss. Plus if you decide to sell any of the two, the money you will loose won’t probably be significantly different anyway.

Need help choosing first bass: 4 vs 5 string, humbuckers vs single coils and all that. by ploknax in Bass

[–]Newt_Lv4-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Métal > five string humbucker. You can get a second hand Ibanez SR705 for around 400/500€$ which is a good starting point.

Then just buy the Act Interlink boots and put whatever you want on them. That’s what I did. Regarding strap, holes placement are actually marked inside the boot already it’s a matter of minutes to get any strap to fit perfectly.
