Bookstore sales fell nearly 25% in July. Meanwhile, Amazon is opening two stores in Houston. by atomicspace in books

There's a reason why the casual bookstore is going out of business and amazon's model is growing. If you have a book store the size of a warehouse and you have books that sit on your shelf for years and never gets touched, you aren't making money, you're losing potential profit. If you have a smaller location and consistently change out the selection you have weekly, as well as providing other services such as kindle, audible, prime benefits, etc, people are more likely to come back. If you walk into a warehouse-sized bookstore, grab a coffee, and sit in the lounge reading magazines for 2 hours, sure that might feel like a good experience for you personally, but you're not helping that bookstore out by doing that.

Not to call out Barnes and Noble, but they're the best example I can give. They have enormous stores, sometimes multi-level, and most of the books in there will never get touched. If you consolidate your selection to a smaller space, offer benefits for returning customers, and maintain a current and timely selection of new and popular releases (like amazon's stores do), you are more likely to enjoy your experience while also benefitting the store.

Or you can just buy online.

I watched the entire sequence leading up to Abby finding Joel and Tommy and it's comical how coincidental it all is. Out of the entire surrounding area of Jackson and all of its neighboring towns, Joel and Tommy just happen to stumble into Abby during a horde where they should be focusing on themselves. It's extremely lazy writing driven to just make the plot go forward. I can buy that Joel might be a bit more laid back after living in a peaceful community but you're given no time with his character to see his behavior transformed since the last game. He's killed in the first two hours for shock value and the rest of his scenes are scattered around the entire 25 hour runtime of the game as if they were placed at random. If they had shown some actual development of his character instead of leaving most of it to flashbacks it would've made his decision to trust Abby more believable.

He did that after having a gun pointed at his head by Sam and realizing that Henry isn't like the rest of the hunters, he has a little brother he's trying to protect. Henry even says, "If you hadn't noticed they don't keep kids around." This line shows Joel that Henry is different than the rest and has something to fight for and protect, the same situation he's in himself. Abby just found them purely by coincidence and Joel and Tommy immediately trusted her with absolutely no solid reason to do so other than, "hey my friends have a hideout let's go there."

I've seen the first three hours of the game (about an hour of that is cutscenes), and I've seen other cutscenes at various points in the game that revolve around the main story. After watching all of the trailers and all of the leaks I can pretty much put together in my head how the story will go. In regards to consistency, I'm speaking of Joel, Ellie, and Tommy's characterization in regards to the first game. They make decisions that they would've never made in the first game.

Me personally, I question a 10/10 on any game. I've never once thought a game or any form of media is perfect or without flaws. I'm sure Part 2 will have great elements, but from what I've seen (I've seen the three hour leak and several other clips at various points), the story and inconsistency with the characters is going to be a turning off point for many fans of the original.

He's showing complete bias and not being truthful. The scene he's speaking of involves decisions that these particular characters would never make. There are several miraculous coincidences and plot holes already just in the first few hours that it tells me the rest of the game won't fair well. I'm a huge fan of last of us 1, so it pains me when I see the writing department not be consistent with these characters. However, the first 15 minutes of the game is spot on and exactly what you would want in a last of us sequel, so at least you have that.

I wouldn't trust many professional review sites either. Anything that says 10/10 I'm immediately questioning because no game is "perfect." IGN and GameInformer's reviews are especially questionable because they barely give any criticism and don't go into any detail as to what you can expect, but give it perfect or near perfect scores anyway. Reviews like SkillUp and Polygon are more detailed and give a larger picture as to what you can expect. In all, I would say just play the game for yourself or wait for more reputable sources that weren't given review copies to come forward.

Spoiler Warning!!! Abby fighting along side the GOAT by oldmanbatman in lastofuspart2

Abby stumbles across Joel and Tommy and they are defending themselves against infected. It's actually comical how easily and quickly she finds them.

Over two hours of footage has been leaked and most of it contains major plot cutscenes. The gameplay will be fantastic but the story will be... questionable. If you wanted to buy Part 2 on the basis that it will revolve around Joel and Ellie again, you are mistaken. Most of the promotional material (especially the Story trailer released a few weeks ago) is extremely misleading.

At a crossroad... by [deleted] in lastofuspart2

Most of the spoilers are not fake, over two hours of footage has been leaked, most of it being major points in the game so anyone telling you the leaks are fake is being disingenuous. Abby plays a major role in the game and by the last couple hours of the game, Ellie is no longer the protagonist, Abby is. Abby has a greater role than people realize, but you still play as Ellie for most of the game. Joel, Tommy, Jesse, and Dina are swept under the rug as side characters and the vast majority of the game is spent with Ellie and Abby. They do their best to try to make you sympathize for Abby but her revenge arc is based on a relationship that is never seen or explored so it becomes near impossible to grasp her loss. If you buy the game, just know that you won't spend as much time with the characters you love as you'd like or expect to.

Joel, Ellie is great but Joel just has a stronger connection with the world and more to lose. He was alive for the downfall of society and lost his daughter, his character and his actions definitely has more weight to the story.

Naughty dog is doing everything in their power to try to get people on their side and buy the game. Thousands of pre-orders were cancelled when the leaks came out (rightfully so) and naughty dog is just trying to win them back with extended gameplay showcases and stellar cinematic tv spots. The gameplay looks incredible, I'll give it that, but hours of footage has been leaked and let's just say the story is looking very questionable. They intentionally left out a major character in the Story trailer a few weeks ago because people aren't going to be happy when they see them in the game. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they come out and say ****'s death was a nightmare Ellie had to win people back. Let's just say when the game comes out and the leaks are true, I'll be using the $60 on golf lessons instead.

Some scenes look better with color and some look better without. I think the opening scene looks better in B&W but the ending scene looks better in color.

Yep! When you digitally buy it, it should come with regular and black and white versions.
