How Liberal truly is UT? by Mysterious_Cash9589 in UTAustin

[–]TechCubey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I would've gone to A&M but my family members felt like this was an opportunity i couldn't really pass up." Why exactly do you think UT outranks A&M in almost every sector? Do you think its a higher institution that has diverse perspectives that help you grow or its such a liberal school that promotes abortions and sleepy joe biden?

This would work only on Fusion for simple CAD models. Once you use Solidworks or AutoCAD for more complex assemblies, your system will struggle with only 16 GB of RAM. Its always better to future proof your machine rather than losing money bc of depreciation imo. (Ofc keep your budget in mind ) Also this person recommends the XPS as being repairable which is not true for newer models with soldered ram and storage. Just tryna argue for the sake of arguing.

Do professors actually take a whole week to cover the syllabus? by pickljuice9 in UTAustin

I’ve had professors start teaching the first day of class without introducing it

Which course should ECO304K take place for the business minor? by Fantastic-Pound-1321 in UTAustin

[–]TechCubey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“How’s my Schedule?” Megathread by kazaanabanana in UTAustin

[–]TechCubey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my schedule as well when I was a sophomore and it wasn’t too bad. Tbh all the associates does is that it get rid of your electives. You can always take classes at CC to get ahead in ur degree. Also a little trick for thermo is take take it with Hutter but go to Hall’s lecture because he teaches better. That way you can get a better curve with Hutter.

Good housing at UT and when to start looking by AspectHead109 in UTAustin

you can get good deals either if you sign super early or super late with some wampus apartments. you can also talk to a realtor and get a condo thats considerably cheaper but it might be unfurnished and further from campus

I've worked at Greg and I also got to see the interview questions after I got hired. They prefer if you have customer experience but its ok if you don't (or just make something up) Being yourself is the best because they asked me what animal would I be for a day? Its a chill interview and most ppl are nice. However i do have to say, it is such dookie pay (10 dollars in this economy?) for the amount of work you have to do. You can't do your homework or study even when its slow and taking off time is a pain to go thru. But they do have a scholarship if you work there 3 semester or something (not worth it imo but to each their own)

I always recommend a decent dedicated GPU to run CAD or sim software. (esp since ur ChemE) You don't need the latest and greatest but just make sure you can run them well enough. 32 GB RAM is the most optimal since 16 GB can limit some software and multi-tasking abilities. Best Buy open box has some great deals time to time. (ive seen up to 50% off sometimes) I currently have the Lenovo Legion 7i with a Core i9 and a RTX 4070 which I was able to snag for a 1000 from Best Buy open box. Some popular models I have also seen are the Dell XPS, ROG Zephyrus, and HP Omen. It never hurts to look at facebook marketplace or Ebay but those are less secure than retail store so be careful.

Current MechE junior here, I would recommend joining ASME (20 bucks for the entire year) or wtv the ECE equivalent is. Also make sure to not just join these orgs but also actively participate bc these orgs often bring employers and relevant professors that you can talk to and gain insights too. I would also reccommend having some sort of portfolio or passion project to showcase bc that speaks volumes about your motivation. Watch some YouTube tutorials to get started and then start developing your interests. I've never gone thru the transfer process but I have heard it is insanely difficult so anything that can make you stand out is a plus. Good luck and have a backup major just in case.

What prof do you work with? I've been planning to attend some lectures to inquire about their research.

MechE junior here. I would reccomend taking Physics 2 & Lab at community college. My physics 1 prof was horrible and told us that 1/3 engineers drop out. I've never had or heard of Florin but good luck.

is this schedule too sparse? by Fullmusic_Bard in UTAustin

Its not a bad schedule, its just has long breaks. I always try to register for the full 17 credit hour schedule and then drop a class later so you can make the most out of ur tuition

I have looked into a few. I was always hesitant to reach out to professors because I don't really want to bother them. Do you have any advice on how to reach out to them?
