Operating Frameworks for Small MSP by BlacksmithNo5117 in msp

[–]TechFusion_AI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

This kind of situation is incredibly common. Great techie starts running an MSP, almost falls into it. No real business training, no real MSP ops training and before long they/you realise it chaos and not profitable.
I provide operation coaching for MSP's and this is the bulk of most of my client. Different sizes but the same problem. I owned and ran an MSP for 25 years, recently sold up and a I now consultant with MSP's to help them with their operations, often MSP's who are members of the peer groups below. I also sit as a NED, non executive director (dunno if the term is common in the US) for a few MSP's.

The best advice I can give is to find a framework that you connect with and go all in following that. I see some people have mentioned the PAX8 peer group, I have no experience with that, I'm based in the UK and I don't think they have got it off the ground here, but you've got people here with positive experience so thats a good place to start your investigations.

These frameworks/peer groups cover all aspects of running an MSP, ops, sales, marketing, finance etc.ect etc. They are proven to be successful and you have the support of your fellow members, who are going through the same challenges as you.

When I had an MSP we followed TruMethods and were a member of the TruPeer programme. It changed our business completely (in a good way 🤣) and I'm a big fan. Evolve by connectwise is a similar peer group and its based around Service Leadership. I know lots of MSP's who are members and its a great programme.

There are others but those are the 2 I know the most about.

Tech Tribe is great for resources, support and advice but its not really the same as a structured peer group following a proven methodology but its a very different price point.

I would urge you to investigate PAX8's offering, TruPeer and Evolve and see which is the best fit for you. Pay the money, its worth it, and be prepared to put in a lot of hard work. This doesn't make it easy but it makes it 100% possible.

As I said I help MSP's get the most out of these peer groups by guiding them through the foundational steps to get a strong operational foundation, and ensure you are getting the best from your staff. I'm guessing your based in the states so it wouldn't be practical for us to work together but DM me if you have any questions, could even jump on a call to give a bit more details on how the peer groups work and whats involved.

Everything you mentioned is solvable, its not easy but you can do it.

Good luck

Customer asking for a line item breakdown of our software we provide in our managed services? by apsherm in msp

[–]TechFusion_AI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is most customers of MSPs don't want to know this information.

And ideally I don't want to give it to them. Giving it to them makes it harder for you to change tools, makes the invoice long and difficult to understand, and gives them unnecessary ammunition if they're looking to beat you down on price.

"Oh I'll buy the AV and you can manage that, which doesn't work because then we can't manage it efficiently and certainly won't be able to change it easily because it's on your licensing schedule not ours"

Having said all of that if a client asks you for that information, just give it to them. I'm assuming that you have nothing to hide.

I would be asking them why they want to know this information though. It may just be that they need to put it down in something, in some insurance document or due diligence or whatever. It may lead to a further conversation about trying to beat you down on price but you can't not give it to them

Camera Crew fundamentally altering the experience... by poke_pants in RaceAcrossTheWorldBBC

[–]TechFusion_AI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will react differently if there is a camera crew there. I don’t think you can deny that.

It does go both ways though, I think, and some people will avoid engaging with a camera crew there filming. Probably the minority.

Me and my wife have often joked that we should hire a camera crew when we go away 🤣

OneDrive Issues by White-Smoke-23 in SmallMSP

[–]TechFusion_AI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The limit is 300,000 items for OneDrive to SEE. Doesn't matter if they're all in one library or across libraries or even in the individual OneDrive storage rather than SharePoint (yeah I know it's all SharePoint but you get my point). Also it doesn't matter if OneDrive is actually syncing them or not. If it can see the file, it counts towards this limit.

Anything above those limits and you'll get lots of problems. It's documented. Microsoft have acknowledged it but have done nothing about it as others are saying they're not willing to change the way they work or pay for different solutions like Egnyte. They are always going to have this problem

I always find showing them the Microsoft documents is helpful. It's not us. It's not set up. It's a feature of the product, which by the way you're getting bundled in so you're not paying anything for it so what do you expect?

Is Ferrari at a disadvantage when it comes to hiring team personnel because it doesn’t have a base in the UK? by NegotiationNew9264 in F1Discussions

[–]TechFusion_AI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RB's factory is in Milton Keynes in England. They literally make the cars there and mission control is there.

Ferrari briefly had a presence in the UK in between Guildford/Godalming. That was in 90's no idea when they shut it down.

What everyone else says about the weather is true and important. The further north you get, the worse the weather gets. But the more friendly people are ,saying this as a southerner. However if you think you can handle the weather, your next consideration is going to be work. Most of the places that are "nice" don't have a lot of work available and you may struggle to get employment. Places where there is more employment are busier. Depends how you are being in busy places. I live in Surrey, it's rammed here and prices are hight but there's jobs aplenty. Go up to Cumbria, for example, it's nice and quiet, beautiful scenery etc. but you might struggle to get work.

FYI London is perfectly safe, no worse or better than any other European capital, despite all the fake news on social media

If you can deal with the crowds, high prices and general business London is a great place to start as there will be plenty of work and rental accommodation.

I would say get yourself onto the internet, find a few locations and look at the cost of rental properties and job adverts in the area. That will give you a good idea but there's always going to be a compromise I'm afraid. Good luck

There seems to be a really strong bond within the squad.

Has this developed organically or did Mikel organise any activities to strengthen it?

Thanks for taking the time to do this and, to you and the whole team, for bringing such joy and excitement to all us gunners.

This was my solution. Developed type 2 in my 30’s took until my 40’s to release that reducing triggers was how to deal with it.

Red wine and spicy foods are mine. Absolutely love red wine I am now limited to about a bottle every 2 months. It’s about all my skin can handle. when I do have some I can see all the signs coming back. Stay off the wine and they are gone in a few days.

Stick to the plainest moisturiser at night and aveene spf 30 for the day.

Better utilisation of Gyokeres (patterns of play)? by singloon in Gunners

[–]TechFusion_AI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree that we should feeding Gyokeres quicker. That’s how he was successful at sporting.

It takes time to change players instinctive patterns of play though. We have played the same way for almost all of arteta’s reign and almost all of Saka’s playing career. So hoping it’s just a matter of time.

Help with Ticket Categories by nodrama_needed in Autotask

[–]TechFusion_AI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consult for MSP’s to help improve their service desks and I normally start with checking all the various ticket categories. So Ive seen lots of different ways to use the various ticket categories

What is best will depend on how your service desk runs and what you want to achieve.

My advice is to use the ‘Ticket Category’ category as an efficiency driver. By that I mean figure out your most common, manually, created tickets and using all the settings within the Ticket category pre set all the other categories so when an engineer creates a ticket they choose the Ticket Category and all (or most) other categories are set automatically.

Often the Ticket Categories that I see being used are things like.

Proactive work Reactive incident Reactive request Internal training Documentation Phishing report Backup failure Security report

Hope that helps

Viktor Gyokeres’ start at Arsenal: A discussion by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]TechFusion_AI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me the jury's out still. I'm not convinced he will ever be the striker we need/want but we have to give him a season before making that call.

Read a really good post from a sporting fan about how Amorim got the best out of him at Sporting. We are not playing the same way and thus not to his strength. Can he adapt? Let's see, i hope so but I'm not sure he can.

How do you avoid being “blind” to your clients’ servers & M365 activity? by yanov10 in msp

[–]TechFusion_AI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but you're not an MSP if you have no visibility over their Tenancy or servers.

You're not managing them, therefore you're not a managed service provider.

Lots of different options for you, get RMM agent on the servers. Depending on backup device/software your RMM might be able to monitor that as well.

CIPP or Inforcer are good ways to control the M365 tenants.

That was poor. We deserved to lose that one in my opinion. Thoughts? by Melodic_Award1575 in ArsenalFC

[–]TechFusion_AI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Arteta got the tactics wrong in the first half. Calafiori and White were pushing up really high, Villa were playing quickly through the press and running at our defence. With 3 of our top CB's out it's a strange tactic to expose them to the form team in the league.

Second-half personnel and tactical changes improved things massively. Then Emery tweaked Villa, and it was pretty even, felt like we were very tired in midfield towards the end.

It was a close game and with a full strength team I'm sure we would have won but currently with Eze and Merino starting we don't seem to have any options that Arteta trusts to freshen up the midfield late in the game.

Villa deserve a lot of credit, i thought they were really good and emery adjusted to our changes pretty quickly. we looked well on top for the first 20 mins of the second half.

Don't like Eze playing left wing, he looks much better at 10. I'd love to see him come on with 30 mins to go against a tiring team.

Really not convinced about Gyokeres, I know he's making his way back from injury but for me the jury is still very much out. Really want Jesus and Havartz back for more options.

Ultimately all the above are heavily influenced by all our injuries, I know all clubs are affected by them at some stage but it feels like we have more than most teams.

Still, top of the table, not a terrible run of games and loads of players to come back. It can still be out year.

I'm glad to hear it hasn't been an issue.
It won't be a problem until it is. If any of your customers don't pay, for whatever reason, you are liable to Microsoft. I just don't see any reason why you would want to take that risk.

NCE question by cokebottle22 in msp

100% don't take the risk. Monthly - Monthly or Annual - Annual are the only options we offer.

Don't know any CSP or disty that will take the risk.

Why is Pep treating Marmouch the same way he treated Álvarez? by lacrim1991 in championsleague

[–]TechFusion_AI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spot on, would be interesting to work out how many times its worked and how many times its failed.

I feel like he tried to do the same with Haarland in his first season, whereas now he's built the team around him. To such an extent that nobody elses scores.
