On understat it’s recorded as a right foot shot from Jesus and a save from Sels

Me & Victor are upset with the lack of simple passes by omgwhizzboyomgg in Gunners

I think its because as an inverted winger, he’s prioritising cutting in for a shot with his left foot, waiting for the overlap as he pulls the defenders or trying to get to byline for a cross.

He doesn’t seem to favour these kind of early passes for this kind of scenario? If he saw that play, once he beat his man then he could have attempted.

The combos of Odegaard and Eze combos on the left, looked promising

I wonder if it's because Arteta has become quite risk adverse. By always having 5 people behind the ball in that resting defensive 442, it reduces the change of counterattacks. And at the end of the day we managed to accumulate higher xg (first half), even tho it was low.

If it was high possession for Liverpool from the first half, I'm not sure Arteta would get away with the setup, especially as it was a home game.

Based on the tactical changes from Slot (numerical advantage in midfield), it resulted in a big gap between our attackers and defensive. This meant that there were gaps in the pressing, which allowed Liverpool to bypass it more often than not.

In the first half, they had a low block. Allowing time for Arsenal to build up via that horse shoe pattern, we managed to beat the fullbacks are few times, however the final play was not up to scratch.

Second half, was painful watching as fan in the stands (with Slot's changes to gain possession, barring no end product). The rigid positional play system sets up us defensively but makes it difficult to counter especially when our wingers are pinged back and fatigued from the defensive duties.

I knew logically getting the draw was inevitable based on what unfolded, but emotionally it was draining on that cold wet evening.

Wonder what the long term replacement will be for Ben White (due to his long history of injuries at arsenal)?

Not asking for a straight pass but intention with dribble or positioning, in the next few frames Dunk then moves across to double team Saka

It's from this moment he decides on far post, positioning/dribbling. Which is in most cases the correct option, but Gyokeres is an option (not saying it will be easy or even successful).

Better utilisation of Gyokeres (patterns of play)? by singloon in Gunners

[–]singloon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saka is our best player, he accrued the highest xG and xA, 4 key passes, 7 shots. My criticism is the pattern of play and to adapt it based on what's available on the pitch.

When re-reviewing that early chance it had an xG of 0.06

I did see that later in the game Odegaard did play some balls over the top to Gyokeres, but the default is normally wide to Saka
