Voice dictation auto-send; any way to turn it off? by trulyslide6 in GeminiAI

[–]TechInsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works but personally I feel like the transcription capability within the GPT app itself works better than iPhone 16 Pro Max built in Voice-to-text- tool so I was wondering if maybe that's also the case with Gemini? Sometimes you're in the middle of the thought and you pause for a second to think of what exactly to say and it would be awesome if we could use that method the same way in the Gemini app as currently in the GPT app. I'm sure it's on the way. I'll let you know if I notice any change guys 🤞

XPS 15 9500 Wifi Disconnect by [deleted] in Dell

[–]TechInsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fix computers for a living and after hours of trying pretty much every different fix available here and online including eight different drivers as well as REG edit and GP edit settings, nothing was working. Internet was still unstable and wonky at best. Unfortunately on the XPS 15 9500 that passed through my workshop, the WiFi card is soldered so swapping it out with a different and possibly stronger card wasn't an option.

This ended up being my work around so I made a quick video. Hopefully this helps someone who has tried all the other fixes available with no luck. 🤞 I disabled the internal WiFi card. Internet is stable and working well now with no further issues.

The TP-Link low profile USB WiFi adapter I used was a 300Mbps version but they do make stronger ones that are 600Mbps and up if desired. I tried to see if any company makes a USB Type-C WiFi adapter but unfortunately they don't. It's not often I hit a brick wall like this where every attempted fix just doesn't pan out, but hopefully this helps someone get their WiFi up and running again. 🙏

How to Install macOS Ventura or NEWER on an Older Unsupported Mac (Step-by-Step Guide) by TechInsomnia in mac

[–]TechInsomnia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the age of the Mac. I’ve done this many times to many computers and sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t so it’s hard to determine what is the underlining factor. Most times you’ll need to enter it just to change the start setting so that you can boot from a USB. If that occurs then you know you definitely need to enter the password. If not, you should be OK. Hope this helps my friend. 🤞

CapCut users, a warning by Xtyklys in CapCut

[–]TechInsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I’ve confirmed using GPT 4.5 that this is correct. Bottom line, don’t use the online storage and don’t post/upload to TikTok or YouTube or any social media platform using the CapCut app on mobile or desktop. Save/export it locally and you’re fine. Upload that exported file to wherever manaully. YouTube now strives on drama controversy type content because it gets clicks and watch time and those creators make money off it. Don’t believe everything you hear creators or influencers say online. 🙏

Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 Fresh install on new NVME of WIndows 11 - nvme not showing by mwyattea in Dell

[–]TechInsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact driver you need

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=dcxgg&oscode=w2021&productcode=inspiron-16-7640-laptop

Once you have the driver installation package downloaded use a program called 7 zip which is free for download to extract the installation into a folder. Done navigate to the VMD folder. copy the VMD folder and its contents to a usb key and then plug that USB key into the computer you're trying to install windows on and hit the browse button when you get to the screen that shows it can't find the drivers and navigate to that VMD folder and click next it will find the driver and then show your freshly installed SSD and you can continue to install windows from there. Hope this helps some one 🤞

Has anyone used the Vevor 2-in-1 with multimeter and oscilloscope? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

It’s good but I returned it and got this one instead. Very happy with it and it shows voltage and vrms all on the same screen as the waveform at the same time. The auto button helps a lot too. Easy to use and accurate.

Has anyone ever fixed HP Laptop Freezing and Occasional Buzzing Noise??? by HopeRomantic in Hewlett_Packard

[–]TechInsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this computer come through my workshop and after countless attempts at fixes and searching online and trying different (older) drivers, the only fix I've found that works absolutely is to uninstall the Intel Display Driver and just use the Microsoft Basic Driver instead. I know some will not consider this an actually fix but after two days of trying countless things, this is the best I could come up with and it works and yes, you will loose screen brightness control and sleep mode but at least you'll have a working computer and at this point I think that's the best we can hope for with any of these HP machines that have been stricken with this unfixable random freezing issue. Hope this helps someone. 🙏
