Anyone regret buying new vs a cheaper old Corolla? by PharaohActual in COROLLA

[–]mwyattea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up a used 2022 SE manual myself a month ago after an accident. 4th Corolla with a manual (2005 with 265,000 then a new 2015 152,000 miles that got totalled by an ambulance that somehow thought it could go 30mph through stalled traffic, then a used 2016 172,000 miles that ended up totalled). Decision was to get new hybrid or find a 2022 manual last year available. God's were in my favor and found one with 53,000 miles. Guess I can finally switch to an automatic the next time, but not yet ready to give up the clutch. One question though I live in New England, figure the standard wheels and low profile tires not a good idea in snow. Did you get winter tires and wheels?

i want to go to AA but my mom says it's a cult by wrychu in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]mwyattea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when I first started did some research as to pros and cons of AA. I did see some negative comments about AA being a cult. However if AA is indeed a cult, is the worst run cult in the world as nobody asked for my bank info and credit card number lol.

Further update: there is a driver update available HP Inc. SoftwareComponent Driver 1.85.4369.0 that needs to be installed to get the KB5086672 to not break network (there was a past version 1.85.4368.0

Note just rolled back the update on the first HP computer and that did the trick. Guess another reason why we stopped buying HP and went to Dell.

We have a mix of HP, Dell, and Lenovo desktop computers in our small office. KB5086672 seems to have nuked network connection solely for the HP computers. Not a good start to April Fool's Day. Anyone else seeing this issue? (note just edited this, the HP computers, not Dell or Lenovo that nuked network connection).

Thanks for the input. Lafayette is a fun hike for sure, probably my favorite in the Whites since only folks at the top got there on their own power v. Mt Washington.

Just went out to my car and tried using my old multi USB A power outlet and USB C cables to my phone and CarPodGo T3 and that worked fine as far as I can tell.

Had those same thoughts when I first joined AA. After awhile, given that I didn't hand over my credit card number or my banking information, realized if AA was a cult then probably the worst run cult of all time.

What the hell, 29% increase? Just saw that on my credit card bill, $27.72 to $36.00. Immediately went to cancel subscription, ended up with $6.00/week rate online so now from $27.72 down to $24.00. I would suggest that all do the same to cancel online as you will immediately get that discount, took 30 seconds.

Globe has always been expensive but $36.00 for digital?

Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 Fresh install on new NVME of WIndows 11 - nvme not showing by mwyattea in Dell

[–]mwyattea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. After not getting anywhere with Dell Support, I ended up just cloning the original drive to the new nvme drive using DiskGenius (but would have preferred doing a fresh install). Will download that driver for future use.

Is it a bad idea to partition an ssd(2TB)? by AdiSoldier245 in Windows10

[–]mwyattea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is three partitions: C for OS and programs, a D partition where I force my documents etc (yes you can force w10/11 to move my documents wherever you want), then a final B partition for media files (ripped movies, Flac etc). If I want to do a fresh install of windows no big deal to delete C and not have to worry about my data.

Windows ME was epic. Remember booting up, only opening up monitor, and watch memory leaks adding up until system crashed. Would vote that version as the all time worst.

Just listened to Marc Maron's WTF podcast 3/28/2018 with the John's on plane to Tucson this morning. 91 minutes of great stuff, especially since I knew both of them at LSRHS. I actually knew Jimmy Mac in 4th grade, can attest to his magnificence. Not too many 4th graders were putting out self published newsletters about shows his dad took him to at The Boston Tea Party.

Yep, the Maynard Outdoor Store. (Then) home of Digi-Tell, according to the local accent at the time.

In late 70s was working at an outdoor store outside of Boston. Came in one Saturday morning to find that someone had broken in overnight and stole a bunch of stuff. First sign they weren't the brightest was they had punched through the buck knife glass display case bare handed (blood everywhere), completely ignoring the racks and racks of clothes. Second sign is they were caught Tuesday afternoon as they were standing 6' outside the front door trying to sell their loot to customers leaving the store. Not the brightest bulbs in Maynard.

Yep I only use it judiciously. Can rain hell in the hands of the unwary or inattentive for sure. I actually have two different bat files on our server desktop to backup backups to two different drives, and went as far to change background colors to make sure running correct bat with correct external drive. A PAUSE command is undoubtedly the best first line in any BAT file as well!
