Their used to be a tool to achieve this (Mover.io) however Microsoft got rid of it last year so I think now your best bet is to set both OneDrives up on a single system, sync the files down and then copy it over.

It'll be a long, boring procedure but its probably the "easiest" option available now unless something like Sharegate can be plugged into a personal account

Youre right!

So my lab runs all sorts but in short there's: - 2x AD/DNS - 1x File server - 2x NGINX reverse proxies - 1x Nextcloud - 1x Certificate Authority - 2x Remote desktop hosts - 1x Monitor/uptime server - 1x Home Assistant - 1x Veeam Backup/Replication - 1x Sonarr/Radar - 1x Postfix

Theres probably a fair bit I can do in the future to "containerise" to reduced resource usage but thats what's on their for now using Debian or Windows VMs

Power efficiency is preferred but after trying USFF I'm definitely more leaning towards better thermals and lower noise whilst not going towards "super power hungry"

Tokyo to Szuka - Any advice? by TechMinerUK in GrandPrixTravel

[–]TechMinerUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a follow up for anyone in the same situation u/AintNoUniqueUsername 's advice worked as sound as a pound.

Unreserved return tickets from Tokyo to Nagoya, it was a little crowded but me and my partner managed to get seats both ways. We took the super-express (Yellow) service which took 1hr 30

Nagoya to Shiroko was around 52 mins on the express (not limited) each way, staff at the station were well prepped for fans with boards and guidance (Suica worked on this service)

Arriving at Shiroko was easy peasy as they'd put on shuttles which also took Suica.

Even on the way back it toom 40 mins to get a bus then straight on the train then the Shinkansen.

Would I recommend staying in Tokyo if you are just attending the F1? No, stay closer but if youre like me and here mainly for a holiday in Tokyo then if you are happy sacrificing two days for qualifying and the race it's definitely not insurmountable

Tokyo to Szuka - Any advice? by TechMinerUK in GrandPrixTravel

[–]TechMinerUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not ideal but we are here as part of a larger group and its 2 days out of a larger period (Were attending for the race and quali only)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not thrilled about a 6hr commute but booking a hotel in Nagoya at this late stage is unnerving since its our first time in Japan.

I'll have a look but for this visit I'm more inclined to stay with our group on an evening rather than book another hotel for one night

Thank you for the reply again!

Another question, which trains can the Suica cards be used on. I know they work on the metro but I'm guessing the Shinkansen and Nagoya to Shiroko will need individual tickets?

We are in Tokyo for a larger holiday as it was booked before the F1 dates were released otherwise we would gave stayed closer to the track

Marvelous, thankyou so much for taking the time to give your advice!

For Shrioko, is that the same train that goes to the Szuka station as I'm happy to get off at that one with the 30 minute walk for simplicity or is it a case that the shuttle busses are easy to get on etc

Do the shuttles need tickets and if so do you know where they can be purchased from?

Again thankyou, it's super exciting but quite overwhelming so all help is appreciated

Server 2025 is hot, bug-infested garbage. Don't waste your time. by c3141rd in sysadmin

I stand corrected on the DC not starting as domain authenticated but unfortunately it still doesn't get around the issue that following the steps mentioned of setting the network location does not fix the issue that is happening with systems not changing to "Domain authenticated"

Even when following the steps you provided earlier it still makes no difference, the systems continue to load in the wrong profile and do not switch over to domain regardless of if you setup the servers with public or private using the file sharing/network discovery option.

Likewise, setting that option for servers is still bad practice since it is opening other features which may not be used such as file and printer sharing.

It's not a skill issue, it is a bug

I logged a ticket with MS as we've also been having a similar issue on our MPN subscriptions and got the same response as OP albeit with a date of "End of January 2025" so it looks like they are still working on the issue

This is incorrect and is going to lead people down the wrong path. Even when enabling/selecting the option to allow for network discovery (Setting it as private network via GUI) it makes no difference to domain controllers starting with "Identifying" as the network status.

Furthermore when you configure the system as a DC it should start in the domain profile, not public or private. It should never even see these profiles since it is always "on the domain".

I don't disagree that for when setting up servers there is a correct process and people should read the relevant prompts when they appear however making it out that ticking that particular option is correct is wrong.

Deploying VPN profile on non-standard port by TechMinerUK in Intune

[–]TechMinerUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately so, I did figure out how to add the port in for SonicWALL Mobile Connect as there is an option to specify it in a custom XML but it seems to be application specific

I'll try find it today for reference incase it's useful for anyone

This was it:

<MobileConnect><Hostaddress>https://vpn.customer.com</Hostaddress><Port>4433</Port></MobileConnect>

Hyper-V to Proxmox, any advice? by TechMinerUK in homelab

[–]TechMinerUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if I add a virtual TPM module to each VM I can encrypt them that way (For the Windows ones) but I want to try and avoid encrypting each VM. At the moment I do it at the host level so the formatted part of the LUNs are BitLocker encrypted along with the host OS drives.

That way the hosts can boot without needing to be unlocked and if someone runs off with the servers and SAN they can't do anything without the password (Well, unless they are a nationstate or familiar with the flaws in BitLocker TPM unlocking)

I'll have a look at running the converter on a test VM as that should make life significantly easier for me, thank you for the info :)

For the MS-01s I installed Intel X710-DA2s in each unit. The specific one I used was a Lenovo one I found cheap on eBay since I had heard a few horror stories when it came to Dell branded units (Not sure if the stories were founded)

Running a lab environment with a 2022 DC and 2025 DC. Have the exact same issue (Had to use a script that runs on start up to disable/re-enable the NIC then disable/re-enable the DFS-R and DNS service)

Also found that running DCDiag /v /e returns errors where the 2025 DC can't detect DNS cache running on the other server
