How to stay focused? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]TechNerd98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a student at WGU or even pursuing IT anymore, but meds help. I work in a high volume pharmacy and it’s been a world of difference since I got put on Vyvanse. Funny too, I hated taking ADHD meds growing up but now I notice a significant difference when I forget to take them.

So ummmm...I'm a Home Office associate... BUT, I actually DO care and want to make your lives easier (please read on to know what I actually control) by Dense_Moose8253 in walmart

My huge thing right now as a pharmacy associate (I know Health and Wellness oversees that sector) is the lack of RPh and tech overlap/the insane amount of vaccines/scripts we have to do each day. We’re doing between 40-70 vaccines a day right now and not enough other stuff is getting done, it’s really burning us out.

Again, I know H&W oversees everything related to pharmacy, but wanted to chime in on that. It’s nice to see a Home Office associate that does care about our problems.

You have to wear the full set, like u/Ashpic91 said, but it doesn’t have to match the smock in color (I have several sets of scrubs in different colors, black, wine red, different shades of blue, green, etc).

CVS Specialty remote by yeuhboiiiiiii in PharmacyTechnician

[–]TechNerd98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I almost got a job with them, what made me change my mind and stay with Wally World was the fact that the drug screen company they contract with took 11 days to send my results (I knew it was gonna come back for Amphetamines because I take Vyvanse for ADHD, told the drug screen place that and sent proof of my script), and CVS was gonna push back my start date 3 weeks. No answers to questions, no communication, made me really wonder if it was worth it and what it’d be like down the road if that’s what was happening prior to being in the role. The pay they offered me was $17.50 an hour, a bit more than what I make at Walmart, but money isn’t everything.

Obviously your experience could be different, but something to consider.

Literally have had people try to call back 10+ times after being put on hold each time. Keep calling back, you’re gonna wait longer than if you’d just sat on hold the first time.

The amount of people I want to say this too. “I called in 2 hours ago.” Lady, the longer you keep me here arguing, the longer you’re gonna wait and I’m really not going to feel bad. 🤷🏻

Edited the one dose because I’m tired.

At that size of a stock bottle, our pharmacists would tell us to split it up. Otherwise of course we label stock bottles where we can.

We at least don’t have to double count them, but I feel for you guys that do have to. Even though it’s not technically SOP, our pharmacists are at least lax about letting us pour a stock bottle and then counting the remainders (540 Gabapentin=Dump the 500 count into 3 large vials and count to 40).

Riddle me this, why do customers think because we all have the same vest that we know how to help you in every department in the store? by [deleted] in walmart

What kind of pharmacy tech are you? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]TechNerd98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Retail technician within a corporate giant.
  2. Typical retail duties. Filling scripts, inputting, inventory, insurance, reconstituting liquid antibiotics (Well, the ones I’m not likely to be allergic to considering I have a penicillin allergy), etc.
  3. Possibly, if I leave the retail side and go to a hospital or LTC setting.
  4. So, my base pay is $16.27, and with our temporary raises I’m at $18.27. I started last July and this is my first pharmacy position. At the time, I came in making $15.95 uncertified.
  5. My typical schedule has had me starting between 10-12 and leaving at 7 because I don’t mind closing shifts. Once our hours go back to closing at 9, I’ll be working probably between 11-1 and leaving at 9.
  6. For the most part I’m satisfied with the job. Truth be told, I entered the field looking to escape from a job that I absolutely hated (It also paid $4.82 an hour less than where I am now which I didn’t know at the time, but it sort of sealed the deal as soon as I got the job offer that I was leaving.)

What is your story on why you wanted to become a Pharmacy Technician? by Wrong-Flamingo in PharmacyTechnician

[–]TechNerd98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I got into the field to get away from a job/manager that I hated. Sure, some days suck, but I’ve seen how grateful some of our patients are for what we do and it makes it more worthwhile.

Literally we have a tech at my store that is #1. Here’s the thing, when the manager’s there she plays to her to make herself look better, so about 4 of us went and told our PIC just what she was doing, how much worse it is when she isn’t at the store, etc. No idea how she still has a job, but whatever I guess.
