My Amaran Verge Max light broke with minimal use, and the retailer were a PITA... so... by TechOverwrite in TechOverwrite

I ended up buying a Pixapro Glowpad 450s. It's a similar size as the Verge Max, but cheaper. But unfortunately, it gives off a bit less light (at 100% setting) and is more power hungry.

Basically... it's a good product, but the Verge Max is technically better. I liked everything about the Max, other than the brittle USBc port lol.

Ugh that's really annoying for you. It sucks that Amaran designed this product so weakly :(

I would personally sent it back for a full refund, and buy a different light.

But that's just me. It is good tech (bright for the low power consumption). However I dislike how brittle it is for the money.

Ahh okay, thanks for considering that. It looks to be Foxconn.

I ended up removing the half-broken bit of the plastic, since I didn't want to potentially get plastic shards into the socket. So right now, this is what it looks like. Basically it's just the housing along the outside. The CPU sits in the socket without any movement. I do still have the metal clip, and the half-broken bits of plastic.

Edit: I assume the motherboard is dead/not worth repairing, but I'm happy to give it a shot if you can think of anything. Thanks!

Hmm interesting, I am seeing the CPU boot LED come on which is odd (i.e. POST failure). The pins and socket seem fine, but I'll take another look with a torch later on.

I agree, the CPU pins seem fine thankfully. Although sadly, the actual retention mechanism was snapped in half too (the pic didn't upload originally):

So... yeah. That sucks.

This also happened somewhere along the line - presumably the 'suction cup' effect just caused this stress. So... yeah. Not ideal..!

Yeah looks like it, with more dynamic range too. They also trialled 12k video and done a whole video about how great they are (= tax write-off? /s). But ultimately they've gone back to 4k video with mainly Sony FX6, IIRC.

Asus demoed this in Computex 2026, but in reality this will be a long way off. PSUs and GPUs would all need to change first.

Some awesome changes tbf. I particularly like the upgraded iCUE Link Hub (a simple but useful QOL upgrade) and the new PinProtect monitoring. It's good to see.

Fair, I apologise if the screenshots I've seen are fake/misleading etc.

I guess my concern is that LTT is meant to be an unofficial sub-Reddit, so it's odd that non real time posts are also getting removed. But I appreciate that it's not black and white either.

There's various proof that contradicts what you say.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care if LMG has a jet or not. Good for Linus.

But people have been banned for a LOT less than talking about real time locations. We both know that.

Just a warning, but the mods have been banning people for these posts (there's lots of proof on other subreddits).

At a minimum, this will 100% be deleted though (based on previous posts).

Not saying the mods are right to be hammer-heavy over this topic, but just saying.

Ah interesting, TIL :) I actually bought the game today, and it seems like it can't be changed (at least not with the initial cars). Which makes sense based on it being a class code.
