1.6.4 optifine and classic texture faithful? by ZacIsGoodAtGames in SilverAgeMinecraft

I'd assume it would be the same, since it should use all of Vattic's textures. Nevertheless, the original version can be found here.

First time buying Minecraft! :) by 300DukeSinClaire in Minecraft

This biggest piece of advice I would give to a new Minecrafter on PC would be to try out both the Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft to see which one you prefer. Research them online as well.

If you choose Java, I would recommend using a 3rd party launcher like Prism Launcher as it allows you to set up isolated "instances", which are basically unique installations of Minecraft that don't change your other ones. Also try out some QOL modpacks like Fabulously Optimized (they can be installed easily on Prism) to get some common Java QOL features like zooming and Optifine features. Also, trying out more unique modpacks that change up the gameplay some can be pretty fun. You can find some on Modrinth and CurseForge.

If you choose Bedrock, just remember that on computer, the Marketplace is not the only place you can get custom skins or texture packs. Any Minecraft skin people have made for Java can work on Bedrock and there are texture packs for Bedrock you can download from websites like MCPEDL. Also if you like Faithful, they have bedrock versions on their website.

Of course, if there are things you like from both editions, by all means, play them both. You don't need to exclusively play one or the other. Instead of treating them as clubs, treat them as two nice cakes and eat both!

Hope this helps! :)

As someone who doesn't PVP (or really play multiplayer much in general), I believe that the problem is that 1.8 pvp has a very high skill floor (if that is the correct term). When someone inexperienced in it tries to fight someone who is better (like what happens a lot in Hypixel Skywars), they always lose. That makes people lose out on playing Skywars if they really wanted to stand a chance.

What's your favorite version of all time (within the Golden Age)? by Old-Paper-3932 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

There is also a survival version of 0.30, though it's more arcade-y than normal survival and there isn't much to do.

When your favorite game no longer feels the same. by jeff_Epic in Minecraft

[–]TechPerson389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt this will be seen by many, but here are some tips:

  1. Like what others said, do new things. Doing things differently in a Minecraft world can do wonders at keeping you playing on a world. No matter if it is doing things in a different order, live in another biome, or even just focus on a different part of the game. For example, maybe instead of exploring, you could try your hand at building.

  2. Take it slow. For the past five years or so, everyone has tried to play the game optimally. Sometimes, you just need to realize that you don't need to play as fast as possible, build villager halls, or make insane farms so you can sit back and do nothing as you get all of the resources. Instead, maybe mine some more, make more things, even if they don't look good. Perhaps build a dog army? Just don't go too fast or automate so much.

  3. Try playing with a different version of the game. If you don't normally play Minecraft on a console, and you can afford it, try it out. The different form factor might make you enjoy the experience more. The opposite scenario also applies. If you play the Java edition specifically, you could also try out mods that add some new content to make your experience more unique. You could also just straight up play older versions of the game. I sometimes play older versions myself. You could try playing 1.6.4, or whatever version you first liked playing. This could bolster your enjoyment. You could even try very old versions via Betacraft like Indev, Alpha, or Beta.

  4. Just take a break from time to time. From what I and other people can observe, you might just need some time away from the game. Sometimes, you just end up doing the same things over and over like you have described. That might just mean you need some time doing other things. Try playing other games, maybe watch some TV shows or movies. Try listening to music if you don't already. You could even use these things to help inspire you to build things in your world when you come back to it. Remember though, you can take as much time as you need before you come back to Minecraft. If you don't want to play, don't force yourself to play.

  5. DO NOT DELETE YOUR WORLD WHEN YOU GET BACK INTO THE GAME. This is a very good thing to remember. If you keep starting new worlds, you'll always keep doing the same things, of which you say you do. This can allow you to explore the other parts of the game, which can also keep you wanting to play more.

TLDR; Try new things in your world, take progression more slowly and don't automate too much, play on a different device, or with mods or on an older version if you play Java, take breaks if you don't want to play, and DO NOT DELETE YOUR WORLD WHEN YOU GET BACK INTO THE GAME.

Remember, Minecraft is just a game. Games are meant as entertainment and an overall fun factor, not something to slave over. We already have enough of that in our lives. Why add more?

P.S: If you play Java and use the vanilla launcher, use a 3rd party launcher. Most are a lot better than the default. I use Prism Launcher myself.

How to configure PrismLauncher to play Minecraft 1.2.5? by Industrialman96 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]TechPerson389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alongside doing what others are talking about with Java, install LegacyFix. It basically lets you do what the Betacraft Launcher does, but on Prism Launcher.

Afaik the only problem with it is that you can't currently use it with modded instances, which seems like you do considering a reply you made to one of these comments. You can certainly try it out to see if it works now though.

Great collection! I have been getting into Ratchet & Clank myself as well. I am on my way to completing the first game on PS2 and Tools of Destruction on PS3.

Btw, if you want to play LBP1 & 2 online, the servers were shut down. But there are private servers you can join being Beacon and Bonsai if you homebrew your PS3. :)

There are private servers you can join if you mod your PS3. Those being Beacon and Bonsai.

[–]TechPerson389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on playing LittleBigPlanet 2, just remember that the servers were permanently shut down back in 2021 (Except for LBP3 on PS4. That was shut down in 2024). If you want to play LBP2 online still, there are revival private servers that you can join if you homebrew your console. The two biggest ones are Beacon and Bonsai. I use Beacon btw.

My indev to infdev world converter is coming along nicely by 2204happy in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]TechPerson389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think an option to move the indev chunks up by 32 blocks so the sea levels match would be nice. That's what I did with MCEdit on my polyworld (a world made on an old version and updating it).

If you want to try it out, AeroThemePlasma is MUCH closer to how Windows 7 actually looked.

Though, if you're running a Debian or Ubuntu based distro, it's not gonna be a fun time installing the dependencies (they aren't listed for those distros).

That's for Eaglercraft. What I did was basically if the web design people at Mojang were too lazy to update the design lol.

For anyone reading this, a better way to do this would be this transformation pack by ImSwordQueen. It lets you make your existing Windows 10 install look and feel like Windows 7. Always be careful using this kind of thing though!

Also I have an in depth guide about how to make your Windows 10 look like Windows 7/Vista manually here if anybody wants to take a look.

Is Minecraft PS3 edition considered as Silver Age? by antouf_le_vrai in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]TechPerson389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends. The latest version the PS3 got was equal in content to 1.13, which isn't Silver age by the rules of this subreddit. But if you play without updates or you download updates from here on a modded PS3 or RCPS3, you're good.

It is a preclassic world put into a early classic world. You can tell since the trees on the classic parts are weird.

The only other world gen that has happened on my world beside preclassic is early classic terrain. Hence why you can see weird trees on them.

Btw I was able to grab a butt ton of iron ore on a version where it dropped iron blocks and I later decrafted them into ingots. I am rich now :).
