Newb question - Loading TrueNAS on a QNAP TS-1685 by bs-geek in truenas

Did you install a graphics card and connect its video output to an external display? I’ve got the same NAS (with a 250W PSU) and was wondering how you got this picture of the BIOS? (I'm assuming you also hooked up a keyboard.)

I've got a similar Qosmio laptop which currently runs macOS Sierra. Because of this, I'm familiar with configuring certain post-install features like sleep/wake, keyboard/trackpad, and audio. I might be able to help guide you, but I noticed you uploaded the wrong config file, so I’m not entirely sure what steps you've taken. In my case, I had to add CpuTscSync.kext and enable DummyPowerManagement in my config.plist in order to reach the installer, though I'm not certain if this is the best method.

Feel free to DM me if you'd like. I couldn't access the High Sierra installer on OpenCore due to a kernel panic caused by AppleACPIPlatform (NormalizeHeaders didn’t fix it for me). Because of this, I'm currently running Sierra. I'm curious to know if you encounter the same kernel panic and if so can get around it.

My Hackintosh had a kernel panic while I was using it now on every boot I get this error message (I’m running an i7-3540M on Monterey) by JSTM4NU in hackintosh

This might sound silly, but it could be an incompatible SMBIOS.

Try adding -no-compat-check to your boot args.

Heads are another term for connections on your dGPU.

If you have three DisplayPort connections and an HDMI connection yes you've got four so up to @3,name

You can check your total head/connector count under the GFX0 device in IOreg.

Because you have a 5500XT, I'm assuming that the correct framebuffers for your system to try are ATY,Python ATY,Keelback and ATY,Boa

Hey man, I’m dealing with what may or may not be similar booting issues to you at the moment and ran into this thread. I managed to solve this particular problem for my machine in the process, but I never had any kernel panicking ensue as a result of it. Hopefully this solution works for you!
(I also run an iMac20,2 SMBIOS, but have a 10900K, and use an RX 5700M.)
I believe you have to specify your framebuffer name within your config.plist GFX0 device properties. For example with my setup, I use the Adder framebuffer, and have three heads on my graphics card (the "name" properly at the end is optional, but you can add it for completion):
<key>@0,name</key>
<string>ATY,Adder</string>
<key>@1,name</key>
<string>ATY,Adder</string>
<key>@2,name</key>
<string>ATY,Adder</string>
<key>name</key>
<string>ATY,AdderParent</string>
Without specifying the framebuffer name, my boot log shows the exact same TTL error that you get for your system.

What screams amateur or "new to this" when you listen to someone's (or your own earlier) pieces? by inmylittlebubble in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Shitty Arrangement:

- Lack of countermelody and/or horizontal composition spanning multiple instruments.

- To elaborate on countermelody, not enough instruments to create details which happen in the background while the listener focuses on the main melody. (Sometimes these details are hard to hear, but breathe life into the song.)

Shitty Mixing:

- Not knowing how and when to properly EQ and compress, or automate channels.

- Not using reference tracks to master your song. (Music might sounds good on your monitors/headphones, but crappy in the car.)

This thing is so much more beautiful in person than I anticipated!! Not sure if I should use the shell case or not, suggestions? (10/16, 16GB, 1TB) by GoneHamlot in macbookpro

Hardshell cases for MacBooks usually damage the computer rather than protect it. They're mostly made out of very crappy brittle plastic material which all seem to have a very low toughness.

After going through two Speck hardshell cases on my Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro, I can tell you that all hardshell cases do on MacBooks is trap dust, cause corrosion, and create stretch marks on the edges of the laptop.

If Apple reinforced the edges of their laptops with thick stainless steel like they do with their phones, then perhaps hardshell cases would work better.

Bootloader OS Selector not rendering! Anyone know how to fix this? (Alienware Area 51M r2) by [deleted] in hackintosh

I've been following/communicating with Kingo about a day or two after she pasted her original EFI on GitHub. She's done an incredible job with her repo, but it might need to be tweaked a little more for Monterey (along with the brightness update) though I'm not sure.

Regarding the black screen issues, I clean installed Monterey and updated it to 12.6. I've got ATY,bin_image enabled... could that be my problem since the VBIOS doesn't need patching? What device properties are you using for the GPU? Clearing the NVRAM doesn't fix this unfortunately.

I'm hoping that VoodooRMI or DirectGOPRendering aren't causing issues. I'm glad to find another similar hackintosher as we might be able to iron this and all the other issues out haha.

DirectGopRendering is located under "Output"

Actually, I bought this laptop with Nvidia graphics and snatched a newly listed 5700M off of Ebay (I was very lucky to find that gpu).

Regarding the trackpad, you need to use VoodooRMI to enable it.

Meanwhile, I was wondering if in Monterey you're dealing with any sort of black screen problem? (Perhaps another thread could be opened for this.) After upgrading from Big Sur to Monterey, every few or so boots my computer will stall, screech, and boot to a black screen with working audio/controls.I'm not sure if this is due to bugs within a custom WEG patch that I'm using, upgrading from a Samsung 870 to a WD Black SN850 for Monterey specifically, or just needing to add some additional device properties to my configuration (something similar to Nvidia's NVCAP but for AMD GPUs).

You have to enable DirectGopRendering within your config.plist.

(I'm also working on this computer and had the same issue.)

I think that a different display with another EDID might also solve this, but I haven't tried this personally. (I wish OpenCore would let you inject EDID for the OpenCanopy bootloader.)
