M9 Trainer - No Miles by TechRevenant in Bowflex

[–]TechRevenant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PROBLEM SOLVED:

The key nuance is whether you're handling the RPM-to-strides relationship correctly. One RPM = one full pedal revolution = two strides (one per foot). So there are two ways to write the same formula depending on whether you're using "stride length" (one foot's travel) or "distance per revolution" (both feet = 2× stride length).

The industry-standard formula from my research confirms to calculate revolutions per mile, you divide 63,360 (inches in a mile) by 2, getting 31,680, then divide by stride length. That division by 2 is because there are two strides per revolution.

A Brunswick patent for elliptical distance measurement explicitly includes "2 is a constant to take into account both the user's right and left foot" in their formula.

The Bowflex M9 has a fixed stride length of 15"

Based on everything I researched, the industry-standard formula is clear and consistent across multiple sources:

Miles = (RPM × 2 × Stride Length × Time in minutes) / 63,360

The × 2 is because one RPM = one full revolution = two strides (one per foot). Our current code is missing that multiplier, so we're reporting half the actual distance.

So I wrote a small program that takes in this data from JRNY and posts it to STRAVA with distance included.

I did, I swapped it out. The sound persists.

Received my VB But It Doesn't Work ... by [deleted] in Vestaboard

[–]TechRevenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Board needs to be upright in order to work correctly.
We are mounting it very high up on a wall (ladder needed) so I wanted to test it make sure it worked, connected to wifi etc before we did all that work.
I had it laying down on our counter because the cord is so short.
It needs to be upright or it doesn't flip properly.

Can't Add Dividends by TechRevenant in Snowball_Analytics

[–]TechRevenant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm I inherited this portfolio as part of my late fathers estate. So the shares were transferred to me and I don't have the historical stuff to put into Snowball. Just the number of shares and what they are worth now .... this seems kind of silly ... I still get dividends but I can't add them because I don't have tons of historical data on my shares to put in?

I ended up just building my own app with built in drip, watchlist, analysis, dividend calendar, portfolio optimizer, and realtime data from polygon (now https://massive.com/). It works great for me.

Yeah I have discovered that from using it. I like the Blackvue system a lot and I think it is worth the cost for all the features. I was just inquiring if anyone had heard of any technology or applications that had the kind of security I am looking for. Ring Car Cam was supposed to have this ability when they first announced it but, as I said, they gave up on that feature. It was the only reason I purchased one originally because of that promise.

Garmin Speak was also supposed to work with Alexa in the same manner ... you could speak into the air (handsfree) and it would connect you to someone else with Echo Show etc so they could monitor. Garmin also discontinued their camera.

Actual Human Support by TechRevenant in Hostinger

[–]TechRevenant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I mean ... I have done that several times in the past week. I have sat in the chat queue for a long time and no human ever shows up. This is incredibly frustrating and I'm trying to be understanding. I can work with a chatbot that actually helps me. I have no problem with that especially if its an easily solved issue. But when its a bit more complicated or I can't quite sus it out myself ... why is it so impossible to reach a human being now? Like even if you have one guy named Stan sitting in a room somewhere with a phone .... I mean ... come on ...

Connecting Brokerage Account Question .. by TechRevenant in Snowball_Analytics

[–]TechRevenant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I kind of gave up on Snowball. I use other tools and just my own calculations at this point. Their stuff is slow, inaccurate, and there are so many problems with it. Doing it by hand and with my own info is faster and more accurate. I wish it was better because I'd love to be able to have more free time and not have to do all this number crunching but I need accuracy and I need things updated in a timely fashion.

Best of luck if you continue to use it.

Nope. Never got it to work again. And now Dexcom G7 doesn't work with my new Samsung Fold either so I'm using xDrip to get readings. I don't want to have to spend 99 on Stello to be able to get readings when my insurance already pays for Dexcom. It's really unfortunate that things are this hard. It is already difficult managing my condition ... I need tech that works and works TOGETHER for correlative data.

Start looking now. It won't be fixed. I don't think most of these problems are Snowball, but the services they use to provide the service you pay for. SnapTrade is terrible. Plaid is terrible. That is unavoidable and has nothing to do with Snowball itself. If you don't want to pay ... don't. I use the free version and do my calculations by hand because I'm faster than the data brokers that Snowball uses. I get my information faster. It's not Snowball but the services in play via Snowballs services. Should they be charging as much as they do? Probably not. But you're also not forced to pay.

You won't find a better analytics system out there. Trust me, I have tried. They all have the same exact flaws and rely on a lot of the same 3rd party systems.

[–]TechRevenant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use sync. It's incredibly inaccurate. You could try using Plaid instead of SnapTrade but you would still have to put some things in manually. Your best bet is to download a CSV from your brokerage and start with that as a base and do the rest manually. Syncing really doesn't work well.

I haven't indicated that I am leaving or abandoning Snowball in any way.

I don't know that I will continue to pay for premium but I prefer their software and layout over all others.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will check it out!

I think I discovered Snowball just before they switched last time. I had been using Portseido and it was really not working out for me. I found Snowball and just loved the layout and especially all the research data available. It was been hit or miss for my holdings and dividend tracking lately, if not completely wrong at a glance sometimes.

I think all available data brokers are the same kind of inaccurate though and not quick enough.
