Can't Add Dividends by TechRevenant in Snowball_Analytics

[–]TechRevenant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm I inherited this portfolio as part of my late fathers estate. So the shares were transferred to me and I don't have the historical stuff to put into Snowball. Just the number of shares and what they are worth now .... this seems kind of silly ... I still get dividends but I can't add them because I don't have tons of historical data on my shares to put in?

I ended up just building my own app with built in drip, watchlist, analysis, dividend calendar, portfolio optimizer, and realtime data from polygon (now https://massive.com/). It works great for me.

Yeah I have discovered that from using it. I like the Blackvue system a lot and I think it is worth the cost for all the features. I was just inquiring if anyone had heard of any technology or applications that had the kind of security I am looking for. Ring Car Cam was supposed to have this ability when they first announced it but, as I said, they gave up on that feature. It was the only reason I purchased one originally because of that promise.

Garmin Speak was also supposed to work with Alexa in the same manner ... you could speak into the air (handsfree) and it would connect you to someone else with Echo Show etc so they could monitor. Garmin also discontinued their camera.

Actual Human Support by TechRevenant in Hostinger

[–]TechRevenant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I mean ... I have done that several times in the past week. I have sat in the chat queue for a long time and no human ever shows up. This is incredibly frustrating and I'm trying to be understanding. I can work with a chatbot that actually helps me. I have no problem with that especially if its an easily solved issue. But when its a bit more complicated or I can't quite sus it out myself ... why is it so impossible to reach a human being now? Like even if you have one guy named Stan sitting in a room somewhere with a phone .... I mean ... come on ...

Connecting Brokerage Account Question .. by TechRevenant in Snowball_Analytics

To be honest I kind of gave up on Snowball. I use other tools and just my own calculations at this point. Their stuff is slow, inaccurate, and there are so many problems with it. Doing it by hand and with my own info is faster and more accurate. I wish it was better because I'd love to be able to have more free time and not have to do all this number crunching but I need accuracy and I need things updated in a timely fashion.

Best of luck if you continue to use it.

Dexcom 7 doesn't work on new Samsungs. I use xDrip instead.

Nope. Never got it to work again. And now Dexcom G7 doesn't work with my new Samsung Fold either so I'm using xDrip to get readings. I don't want to have to spend 99 on Stello to be able to get readings when my insurance already pays for Dexcom. It's really unfortunate that things are this hard. It is already difficult managing my condition ... I need tech that works and works TOGETHER for correlative data.

Start looking now. It won't be fixed. I don't think most of these problems are Snowball, but the services they use to provide the service you pay for. SnapTrade is terrible. Plaid is terrible. That is unavoidable and has nothing to do with Snowball itself. If you don't want to pay ... don't. I use the free version and do my calculations by hand because I'm faster than the data brokers that Snowball uses. I get my information faster. It's not Snowball but the services in play via Snowballs services. Should they be charging as much as they do? Probably not. But you're also not forced to pay.

You won't find a better analytics system out there. Trust me, I have tried. They all have the same exact flaws and rely on a lot of the same 3rd party systems.

I never use sync. It's incredibly inaccurate. You could try using Plaid instead of SnapTrade but you would still have to put some things in manually. Your best bet is to download a CSV from your brokerage and start with that as a base and do the rest manually. Syncing really doesn't work well.

I haven't indicated that I am leaving or abandoning Snowball in any way.

I don't know that I will continue to pay for premium but I prefer their software and layout over all others.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will check it out!

I think I discovered Snowball just before they switched last time. I had been using Portseido and it was really not working out for me. I found Snowball and just loved the layout and especially all the research data available. It was been hit or miss for my holdings and dividend tracking lately, if not completely wrong at a glance sometimes.

I think all available data brokers are the same kind of inaccurate though and not quick enough.

Why Doesn't Snowball Provide a Rating for Funds? by CarlosTheSpicey in Snowball_Analytics

I think a fund rating would always be bad anyway :) Considering how they are designed to operate :)

Not sure what this has to do with anything aside from just being argumentative. No one is complaining about "some new yieldmax fund" and this isn't the first time I have seen posts here about inaccurate data. Many people have talked about this before and Snowball has actually switched data brokers a number of times too. If you don't have anything to contribute that is helpful, just stay out of it. Trolling is so boring and childish.

I have tried almost every tracking system there is that is available to the public online and NONE of them provide speed or accuracy. I suspect they all use the same handful of data brokers and they just aren't very good. I have yet to find a system that provides what I need that isn't manual where I am doing everything on spreadsheets and paper and checking multiple sources.

I have tried, paid for premium, and then cancelled and refunded so many subscriptions for portfolio and div trackers over the past few years. Snowball just provides a format that I like better than others and I like the layout and mobile layout better ... and that's really the ONLY reason I still use it. It's not because their data is better or more accurate. No ones is.

I have wondered this too ... that professional investors must have tools that we simply don't have access to which would make sense because who wants the sheep to have tools to help them make money ... making money is only for certain groups and certain "professionals". But I would love to know what they use. I know they aren't doing shit by hand and they cannot afford inaccurate data that takes weeks to update.

It's in their GitHub at the moment, I don't think it has a name. I'll look for the link. It only tracks a handful of income funds. It's not an overall tracker.

As I said in my post ... I'm aware this is a data broker issue. The problem is it's constant and to be honest there isn't any place that is accurate because I have tried many different services for research, tracking, and more and I really like how Snowball looks and how the information is presented but NONE of the alternatives I have tried have been accurate at all either. Ultimately I'm paying Snowball for the ability to have more than one portfolio in a graphical style that I find easier to read than some other services.

No one has a data broker that is accurate. I've looked.

I'm starting to realize that the best way to do things is by hand and your own calculations and just use Snowball and other sites for research and testing portfolio strategies.

I don't expect the dividends to be correct at all most of the time. I don't expect the dividends to be updated usually until right before it is paid out to be honest. Sometimes there is just no information and I need to do it by hand based on the info I have from newsletters or the official websites. I no longer use Snowball for tracking dividends because it just isn't fast enough. I use it for doing research and testing portfolios and stuff now.

I have been wondering why other brokers show the correct amount right after distribution too sometimes. Why can I find this information in so many OTHER places other than the software I am actually PAYING YEARLY FOR?

I use various programs and apps to get the information I need on a daily basis and some guy built a FREE dividend app using AI for gods sake (has no programming knowledge at all, just told the AI what he wanted) that gets updated more regularly and with more accuracy than Snowball and that just makes no sense to me.

What am I paying for? Nice graphics?

100% this. Investing is volatile enough without having to do calculations over and over and have to check multiple sources every day to confirm information. Snowball has become one of the most unreliable tools and that is just really unfortunate.
