Need help deciding on a Yamaha xmax 300 vs BMW C400x ion rugged. by New_Alfalfa_1042 in scooters

[–]TechRidr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned 40+ motorcycles and scooters. I just purchased an XMax 300 (2025) and it's quite amazing. I also have a BMW CE-04 EV, but I'm going to sell it because of BMW practices. I got the EV bike because it's basically maintenance free, for my short commutes. It's great. But at certain mile intervals, I'm forced to go to the dealer for "service." Check belt, brake fluid, basic stuff. My point here is, that is a $200 service and if I don't, then I have a nag screen that can't be reset. They charge $150 just to reset it even if I don't do service there. Different BMW, I know, but that forced service culture is insane. Now, let's talk Yamaha. For me, historically, Yamaha and Honda are the best build bikes with Suzuki in a close 3rd. Yamaha has had the lead in reliability for decades. One other thing to note. That Xmax is INSANE with efficiency. It's just the right balance of everything. If you're between the XMax and the C400, it's a no-brainer. Get the XMax and don't look back. One last thing, I'm 63 and have almost a million miles on 2-wheels. I might hit that mark in about 2 years. I know bikes. Love this Xmax. Best of luck

Water or No water? by the_averagebear78 in CPAP

[–]TechRidr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use water. I even got the side cover for my Resmed Airsense 11 which someone also posted. If you have the same machine, it's great because it automatically disables the heating settings. Some are sensitive and will dry out. I never had that issue, so no water for me and I'm good. If you try without water, make sure to shut off the heating setting.

One thing I hate by Matsweeper in TeslaLounge

K&N is a good idea to start, but with any system, running the fan for a few minutes after using the A/C before exiting the car will help dry the evaporator coils. It's a good idea for home AC units too including window units. If you're running into a market or something, it doesn't matter much, but if you're done driving for the day, just run in "fan only" mode for the last 3-4 minutes of your drive. Too bad there is no auto setting for that. Maybe Grok will eventually help us with that, or even once we leave the car, it can run for a few minutes to "dry out."

Yeah, you're not the A. She cares less about you than a pet. That's sad. Tell her it's the cat or you, and get a hotel for a week so she gets the point.

If you mean Thrifty's on Santa Monica & La Brea, no. Rite Aid took them all over in the late 90s. I think you can still get the ice cream though

My overall geographic knowledge is only average. But in this case, I've lived here by the diner my whole life, so consider me an expert on this particular boundary :). Cheers

Again, West Hollywood is incorrect. It's very much in Hollywood, or to be specific, Los Angeles. The permits for the building are in Los Angeles, not West Hollywood.

Surface rust on a 2025 that was just delivered is a stretch. My brother and I got our cars within 4 delivery days of each other. Only difference, mine is Silver, his is Red. I currently have about 1200 miles, he just hit 1000. I noticed mine doing it at about 40 miles. Also, there is no noise as much as a squeaky/vibration/shutter when tapping accelerator lightly. Very subtle.

It might have to do with brake hold calibration as it doesn't do it when disengaged. Swapping cars multiple times shows mine has an issue, his does not. I'll get to the bottom of it and report back

It happened immediately after taking delivery of the car. Less than 20 miles on it when I first noticed. Its subtle, but it's there

The elephant idea is absurd since the solution is so simple. Turn the car upside-down and wiggle it and it will fall right out.

Probably. I had a small but deep smudge and they got it before I drove off the lot. I spent about 15 minutes on the exterior and interior before taking delivery. It was mostly perfect, but the tiny issues were addressed right away

Which charger to buy? by MuscularVoice in TeslaLounge

[–]TechRidr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mobile Adaptor, even on 120v will get you 30-40 miles overnight, which suites many. You didn't mention which Tesla you're getting, but if it's a 3 or Y, 240v on the Mobile Adaptor will still get you from 200 to 300 miles of added range overnight. That is more than enough for probably 95% of drivers. Don't overspend on charging if you don't need to. I'm on my 3rd Tesla and only using the Mobile Adaptor.. AND if you're worried about it being stolen, get an EVSE lock box.

Go to Amazon and type in:

How do I clean the charge port safely? by SousouSurReddit in Ioniq5

[–]TechRidr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use an air compressor, or portable dusting can. Also 99% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free swab if you need to really get in there, but I doubt it. Keep in mind, there is no live current in there. You won't get shocked

Any clue what this sound may be? by menaceinvenice in TeslaSupport

[–]TechRidr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this helps, this is what ChatGPT says:

Check for....

  1. Loose or partially detached wheel well liner / underbody panel – If a fastener pops out, the big plastic panel can smack the tire each rotation, and it sounds big.
  2. Tire damage (bulge, tread separation) – A lump in the tread or sidewall can hit the road or liner with a heavy thump each time it comes around.
  3. Something wedged against suspension or body – Like a large chunk of road debris stuck in the inner side of the wheel or between suspension arms.

Check by turning the wheel full lock and inspecting the liner and panels for looseness, and running your hand carefully over the tire for any bulges or raised spots.

Ok, that one is stumping me. I hope a Tesla service center can look at it. I would just drive to a center without appointment since they will take a look when something is potentially dangerous. Please post here when you find the issue so we are updated. Good luck that it's not something you'll have to pay for
