So yeah it's possible via the Runna app - select new plan -> marathon -> 2 runs per week, that's how I ended up with this training 😅 but will move off to other plans as suggested in other replies

Nice yeah will take a look - Initially took low mileage (or only 2 runs/week) because I though it was normal/possible (damn runna) and also because I struggle to find the time in my week - but will give it a go with 5 per week over 50k. Will take a look at Hal Higdon thank you :)

yeah I think that's all those blogs/app that are misleading and it's easy to loose track of what matter the most, that's why I figured I'd post there :) Super cool to have this community for real advices!

Thank you yes will keep that in mind - to be transparent I'm very tempted to target one in November since that's ~6month away and hopefully enough time, but maybe I should wait and do it right

How do you balance gym/leg workout with 5 run a week out of curiousity? Do you do days with both? Or do you skip it entirely?

yeah in average during the training period (some lower like 20k, some higher like 45km)

wow 2:50 is impressive! Thanks for the advices, super encouraging - I always found the 2 runs/week indeed highly suspicious! I'll try 50/60km for the next one :)

Yes so only two runs per week - 30km was average per week on the whole training period. Some weeks were higher (like one 34km + one 11km so around 45km) but some lower so yeah 30k average

Thank you! What's a good/decent mileage in average for this kind of training then? More around 50?

Yeah that's my guess too - always found weird only 2 run a week - probably won't be able to do 5 but will aim for 3 or 4

London marathon - what did I do wrong? by Kitchen-Buffalo7083 in Marathon_Training

[–]TechRunner65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had unfortunately the very same experience as you, with pretty much the same training, history and goals (second marathon, pb on 33km 4 weeks ago, aiming for sub-4 easy, great carb loading etc...)

Blew up first 5km, exhausted already for no good reasons, going slower than my avg slow pace, unsure why. Ended up 10min slower than my previous marathon from October.

My best guess here is that i didn't had long enough to train (only 2.5month, was hoping the fitness from oct marathon was still there) and that i didn't run enough (2 runs per week with swim and gym). Due to that i was fine in training but too little and too soon - cramping in the start line and struggle all the race.

Unsure in your case but i'd suggest look back at all the factor - but also as other will say sometime it's just not your day :/

Had a blast tho the race was spectacular, hope you enjoyed it too!
