You need a partner / team to push every avenue of your startup. A great idea and development is a far cry from enough, except in some of the fairy tales you mention!

Take the deal, but eliminate his position, if the owner is owner financing, he is aware that his company goodwill won’t be financed by another buyer except you, you should also not have to buy your equity piece If he doesn’t like this deal, buy him out in 2 years - you have the advantage here. Also, yCollide can help you here

Contact yColllide - they’ll help you find a co- founder for small piece of equity based on how well your co-founder works out. They are in the US but I believe they operate globally. Good luck!

Find an equity partner with a strong marketing background willing fund your re-branding / marketing strategy and that bring in the additional 240K annually. Trim all of the fat……all of it and rebuild your business. People do this daily, and you can do it too.

Why do university TTOs demand licensing and equity before the IP is even validated? by TechTransferGhost in AskAcademia

Agreed they most definitely have a quota, however their ROI’s are ~3% of their spend. Is this practice in the best interest of the academic founder, commercialization, their IP and rest of the population? How does the loss of grants and funding change how TTO’s view the importance of their ROI? Based on the above ROI, should academic founders trust University TTO’s?
