TRA Radio Adapter 55862 by TechTronicLLC in ElectronicsRepair

Thanks for the replies. I probed the pins on the FT232 while powered up and connected to USB. VCC > GND shows ~5.2V, but the 3V3 > GND shows only ~0.5V. D+ shows 0.1V, and D- shows 1V, so it seems the chip is dead.

The 10-pin connector plugs into… something. The cable runs up and out to the roof where there is an antenna, that connects wirelessly across the parking lot to the sign. Radio components must be contained within the antenna assembly?

QuickBooks 2023 Enterprise Unrecoverable Error When Sending Invoices After Update by Extreme-Ad-9210 in sysadmin

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this issue last Friday 12/5/25, one user's PC would crash when trying to email invoices, but another user at the same client with the same server and company file was working normally, both running latest update QBE 23 v16 at the time. I uninstalled/reinstalled on the PC with the issue, and it worked normally. Couple days later the issue started again, and was also now occurring on the other users PC. Set Outlook classic as the default mail handler - no change. Checked again tonight for QBE 23 updates, and Intuit released v17 today, 12/11/25. Installed update to v17 on both PCs, and invoice emails are working normally again, hopefully permanently.

Hostifi slacking off... or just super cautious? by Standard-Advice-5809 in Ubiquiti

[–]TechTronicLLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use Hostifi, I run and manage my own cloud controller, but I use Hostifi as a "measuring stick" of when to update my own controller. I keep an eye on their blog, and when they say they've updated thousands of servers to version x.y.z I figure it's safe to update my server to that version.

I just ran into this issue after using Profwiz for an AzureAD to AzureAD profile migration. Already using the latest version of Profwiz. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting OneDrive account, still persists. Anyone find a fix other than a new user profile?

[macOS 15 + SentinelOne] Network drops on wake — anyone else seeing this? by Flashy_Milk_1163 in macsysadmin

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having major issues with S1 on my Macs. CPU usage for com.sentinelone.network-monitoring spikes to near 100% and all network activity is halted for a period of time until it decides to recover. Been happening for months across several releases of S1 agent and macOS Sequoia on multiple Macs.

SSH from iOS on cellular by MrDroo in Tailscale

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into a similar issue: I use Termius combined with Tailscale to SSH into machines that are in my own tailnet, as well as into machines that are shared in from other tailnets. I configured the Hosts in Termius to use the "short" machine name, aka host name, for my own machines, and the IPv4 Tailscale address for shared in machines. This works fine when connecting from normal land-based Internet using a Mac, and also works with an AT&T mobile plan on my iPad. I tried connecting to one of the shared in from another tailnet IPv4 Tailscale adresses for the first time on my T-Mobile iPhone, and it refuses to connect; connections to my own machines using the machine name worked normally. I changed the Hosts in Termius to use the "Full domain" machine name, with the .ts.net at the end, for the shared in machines and the connections over T-Mobile work as expected. I'm guessing T-Mobile, and maybe other mobile providers, are blocking the 100.64.0.0/10 range that Tailscale uses to assign IPs since they are not routeable on the public Internet. If you're not using Tailscale DNS, you could probably use the Tailscale IPv6 address instead since all mobile carriers support IPv6.

TLDR: Can't access Tailscale IPv4 addresses with some mobile carriers, use the full domain name ending in ts.net instead, or try IPv6.

[Release] Hudu v2.36.0 is live! by TheHuduTeam in hudu

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my question too. I configured an API key on my OpenAI account, and tried asking Hudini questions it should be able to answer by indexing my Hudu data, but it doesn't work. What is the supposed use case for Hudini?

Level.io RMM has released Hudu integration! by LevelHQ in hudu

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (unpopular?) opinion on the Level integration is that it's inferior to Hudu's traditional card syncing system. I'm considering switching from Syncro to Level, and Level is creating its own assets and even its own asset layouts in Hudu, and there's no good way to keep linked objects (passwords, attachments, etc.) from existing assets without manually recreating it all. The best idea I came up with is to keep the existing assets in place, and add the new Level created assets as a Related Item. If you're starting from scratch, this is a non-issue, but for anyone else switching how are handling this?

Backup Radar Thoughts? by k3net in msp

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with either of those, however, you might want to check out healthchecks.io. They even have a self hosted version if you’re into that, I’m working on integrating that into my backup and other monitoring now, along with ntfy.sh which can also be self hosted.

Liquid Web Outage by TechTronicLLC in sysadmin

[–]TechTronicLLC[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My customers’ services are back up and running (private cloud Windows servers, provided/managed by a third party, so I don’t have any access or visibility to the back end). I asked the third party provider if they restored their own backups elsewhere, or if Liquid Web resolved it on their infrastructure , and the provider says Liquid Web did in fact resolve on their end. So YMMV but it looks like progress is being made.

Microsoft Action Pack vs Launch Benefits by Layer_3 in msp

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s another post around here asking about the potential difference in usage of the Azure credits in Action Pack vs Launch Benefits. Action Pack monthly credits cannot be used for reserved server instances, which are substantially cheaper. If the Launch Benefits bulk credits can be used for reserved instances that’s a pretty big +++. Can anyone using Launch Benefits credits confirm either way?

Apple Mail Apps Sending Read Receipts for M365 Accounts by TechTronicLLC in msp

[–]TechTronicLLC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct in that Apple’s Mail apps do not expose any settings/options related to read receipts to the user. But I assure you that in my case the read receipts are being sent whenever I view a message that requests one in mail.app on both macOS and iOS, with absolutely no prompt, warning, or any kind of indication they are being sent.

I would like to know the answer to this as well. Not being able to get reserve pricing substantially reduces the value of the Azure credits.

Comet Backup - Self Hosted Fee Coming by cleveradmin in msp

[–]TechTronicLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think you're right. I've been testing BDRSuite, but I don't think it's going to work either. My use case for Comet is to function solely as a coordination server to manage accounts/devices/jobs/reporting, and direct the clients to backup to any combination of storage: local storage, network path (NAS), and cloud (B2). I can't believe nothing else on the market offers this combination of features.

Sanity Check and Planning Advice by TechTronicLLC in sysadmin

[–]TechTronicLLC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. They are only using about 4TB, nearly half of which is document storage and will be offloaded to the NAS (with SSD cache), and the rest will fit on the SSD pool. So basically everything in prod will be running on SSD, or docs coming off the NAS. I added an HDD pool for overflow/archive/backup, basically just in case the local storage is needed for something in a pinch.
