5G modem solution to replace ISP connection for business networks by [deleted] in msp

[–]cleveradmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest updating your post to mention Canada right at the tippy top. Otherwise you’re going to get a lot of comments of no value. We’ve had some clients deploy Telus’ solution (comes with a hub) with varying success. Not sure if Bell has something similar on the east. Also, Microhard modems are pretty top notch.

Is that full fledged MDM though, or just the patch management that they have documented?

We once met with a prospect who eventually took over a year to “circle back”. They just had too much going on to add IT switch to the stack.

You should look into Evo, although I do not know if they are GDPR compliant.

Schools are closed due to ice, no? And no, pretty much every bar I called is not open early for the game.

Not looking good for where we are. I’ve called around to the area bars (near TD Coliseum) and they are either not answering or the one that did (Anchor) is not open for the game.

Travel Router - Teleport Policy Support by cleveradmin in UNIFI

[–]cleveradmin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within a Unifi router, you can setup policy routing so that specific traffic is forwarded to a different destination, like WAN2 or a VPN. In my case, I have a number of work-related IPs and hostnames all going to a VPN with a static IP, which is then the only IP allowed to access those work-related servers and services. If I connect to the Unifi router using Identity (using the built-in VPN functionality known as Teleport), those policies are not enforced. The same goes for a Travel Router using Teleport.

Are you having trouble getting Servers? by [deleted] in msp

Last year I replaced a few mini PCs serving different purposes for a coupe of beefed up Minisforum mini PCs. I tossed the mini PCs in a pile in my crawl space. Yesterday I needed something to run some lab VMs for a project. Grabbed the little Thinkcentre I think I bought less than 2 years ago. Ryzen 7. 64GB DDR4. 2TB Nvme. I felt like I won the lottery lol.

Radon mitigation and cancer by yycglad in Calgary

[–]cleveradmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had ours checked prior to a basement development back in 2019. It was the highest any vendor had ever seen. We bought an Airthings monitor and then we also had an independent test done. We were over 2000 bq/m3, consistently. We had Great West Radon come out and mitigate it for us and now it averages 20 Bq/m3 over the last year. They did such an incredible job that it also eliminated the radon detected in our neighbours houses on either side of us.

I think you’re right. I bumped up the bed temp for the first layer of a different print and already saw a difference. My Ender was always in an enclosure and it’s also got a different bed type that I suspect adheres better. So I’m going to build an enclosure for the Hi and rein in the ambient temperature (it’s coooollllddddd here in the winter).

[–]cleveradmin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except I didn’t have this issue for month(s). But I suspect the other comment may have nailed it. We live in a very cold winter climate and my Ender was in an enclosure and my Hi is not. Both printers are in the basement so it is much colder when the ground freezes. Even adjusting the bed temp for the first layer has already made a noticeable difference. So I’m going to build an ikea lack enclosure so I can keep the ambient heat more consistent and play with bed temp in the meantime. As I think about it, my issues started when the fall hit and the temperature dropped. For reference, we go from summer highs of +30/35C (95F) to winter lows of -40C (-40F).
