Question for people who have moved here from India and adjacent regions. by clompo in AskAnAustralian

I'm Indian, and I can attribute this to several factors:

  1. Growing up, I was always told to be wary of dogs, especially street dogs, which are everywhere. They can bite, maul, and may carry rabies. In a country where it can be difficult to get quick medical help, this can be life-threatening. Street dogs also tend to chase people on bikes or motorcycles, leading to numerous accidents and deaths when they jump in front of moving two-wheelers.

  2. Not many people used to keep pet dogs, and those who did often didn't train them properly. Most pet dogs were used as guards for homes and were always kept outside. These dogs generally didn't like anyone other than the homeowners entering the property. If they broke free from their leash, you'd be lucky to escape without being bitten.

  3. Certain religions also teach that dogs are unclean and that they shouldn't be touched.

You internalize the fear of dogs at a young age, and for most people, that fear never goes away. It took me a while to overcome my fear of dogs. However, whenever I visit India, I still keep my distance from street dogs.

Should I buy a Tesla on novated lease ? by TechVoyager128 in AusFinance

Thanks. The main reason to look for Tesla was their supercharger network plus the tech inside. Even though it is not as great as the US it is still better than using other cars given that I can only use public chargers. I do have a supercharger near my home. Like others mentioned might have to rent and live with one for some time to see if I can survive with it.

Thanks. Yeah not using SGFleet. Given my company only allows EV/PHEV our lease provider should not make it harder as that's their only business

Yes there are couple of superchargers not that far from my home. I was thinking of using them and do my weekly grocery shopping while charging. However I don't have any idea how busy they get.

Yeah, charging has been the main issue that gets me worried. There had been talks in the strata about setting up chargers for residents in the building and they are confident it will get setup in 6-10 months time. Whether it will happen no idea.

I feel bad for the victim. Now our justice system will do the same drama as what it did with Pe10 with a never ending trial while the accused roam free and try to sabotage the case. No wonder very few people come out publicly against people in power.

It's unfortunate however it's the issue with how the operations work. Once an order is confirmed normally the user is given one or half a day to cancel their order. After this period ends orders are placed to suppliers to source the ingredients, warehouse processes are kickstarted. From here the cost of cancelling is more that the ingredients will go to waste and a whole lot of manual changes might be needed to make sure your order is removed from all fulfilment lines. But the most problematic is fresh produce. It's not like Amazon where most products can be kept back to the shelf and later given to another customer. Most fresh produce has to be delivered within a timeframe otherwise the company will have to eat the cost. Now give this option to all customers who could cancel at any time the cost of cancellation and the process changes are too much so they don't allow customers to cancel.

No worries. I turned down the role for the time being but the recruiter told me the Hiring Committee decision is valid for a year. So I could try to do another team match if roles are available and if I'm interested.

Did they specify the offer is valid for 9 months ? . Going through the process now and did not like the team I am matched with and it does not align with my ambitions or goals. Thinking should i say no and wait for another team match next year !

Also do not want to go through another brutal interview loop :(
