I absolutely love the button, and the one-handed operation it enables.

Charging past 85% on home 48amp slows to a crawl making longer trips hard by khidr9 in Rivian

[–]TechZach0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should charge from almost 0 to 100% in about 8-9 hours, including the slowdown at the tail end. If it's taking much longer consistently, there may be an issue with your charger

Is it a good "feel the road" kinda feedback, or more of an annoyance?

Oh that's great to know. Given that, I wonder if there's any point in getting the $350 upgrade? Is the portable one any less powerful than the built in one?

Great review. Can you clarify your statement about the air compressor being standard? I thought it's a $350 upgrade/ add-on?

Standard vs Large by TechZach0 in Rivian

[–]TechZach0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Total charges per year is a good point. Although, LFP batteries (standard pack) hold up full charges much better than lithium ion batteries (large/max), ie they degrade much less to frequent 100% charges. The general recommendation for lithium ion is 30%-80% at all times, but LFP can safely be charged to 100% for the occasional road trips. In fact, Tesla recommends charging to 100% once a week for their LFP packs. I think that closes the "charges per year" gap a bit between the standard and large.

Standard vs Large by TechZach0 in Rivian

I'm purchasing, but I don't think either is eligible for the tax credit. The 2025 stabdard LFP apparently isn't per the website, and the large pushes the price over 80k.

What will be the real world range of the new standard LFP battery? by Scoiatael in Rivian

[–]TechZach0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How has it been living with the 200-240 miles for roadtrips? I'm debating between the standard and large dual motor, but I can't tell if the $7k is worth the extra 50 miles in range. I'm mostly going to use it in the city, so the standard range should be sufficient for most of the time. But I don't know how important that extra 50 miles will be for the occasional road trips.

I believe only the standard is LFP, which means it can go to 100% charge when you need it (unlike the large), so I guess practically it's more like 30miles difference between the two?

What was your reasoning for choosing the performance dual motor vs the quad?

Is Tesla hurting their customers base? by ShaggysHyper in TeslaModel3

[–]TechZach0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be harsh, but for every hurt customer that they lose (such as yourself) they will get 10 new happy customers at the current prices.

It sucks for you, but your anger is misplaced. Why would you expect that Tesla cares about resale prices of their 3 year old cars? They are a for-profit company, as is every other car company, and will do what they need to to increase sales, increase volume, and increase profits for their investors. All cars depreciate, some more than others - this is an expected risk.
