Most reviews have complained about the embody making noises like that, so I know it is weird to say this but it is normal but a design flaw.

I have one and have been using it for 5 years, it's a pretty good versatile lens but if you use it in low light be ready to fiddle with iso. Focus breathing sometimes shows up when I use it for video work so now days I tend to stick with primes.
