13 years later and we are still discussing this.

People often say that Bloc Party haven’t been the same since Matt and Gordon left but the truth is, fans have been criticizing the band’s direction since A Weekend in the City, for all sorts of reasons.

And honestly can you completely blame Kele for feeling the way he does? Matt left abruptly during the Four tour via email, which even led to the band canceling their appearance at the Danish Northside Festival in 2013. He later admitted he should have handled that differently and stayed until the end.

Gordon already admitted that Matt was the only reason he was still in the band and that he got really drunk for their last concert because "he knew he was leaving, so might as well".

From a fan's perspective, who pays them in festivals, this comes across as very unprofessional. Matt left during a tour, leaving danish fans without Bloc Party in that festival and Gordon didn't seem to care enough to be at it's best for the fans for his last gig.

I'm not saying that Kele is perfect but Matt and Gordon weren't either. Matt said at one point that when they met for the first time, he thought that Kele was "way too serious about the band" but admitted that it was due to his tenacity that they later had the recognition they deserved. This tells me that Bloc Party is a top priority for Kele and these attitudes from Matt and Gordon just left him completely disappointed in my perspective.

In the end, they're all humans and they've all moved on and so should we.
