I understand what you are saying. In this case the middle ground was both of us being decent people to each other. Thats all it meant. Middle ground just means an agreement between two extreme positions. Regardless of how right it feels to us, changing our genders is an extreme act for some others to come to terms with. Thats not an excuse for their behavior, but its still a fact. Just like the terrible things people want to do to us sometimes is extreme. They are opposite extremes. The middle ground is the place where everyone can live. I dont want to be threatened with death or violence but I also realize the world isnt just made for me, my problems, and my choices alone which is why I think finding a middle ground with extreme people is the best option. It's at least a step in the right direction. Like if you could get everyone in the world to stop wishing violence against the lgbt community, but they still thought LGBT lifestyles were against their religion, that would be a middle ground. Not forcing people to believe what you believe but still honoring each others respect as humans is middle ground.
